I've never been diagnosed as having BPD myself. Quite a few years ago, though, I read the book: Lost in the Mirror: An Inside Look at Borderline Personality Disorder by Richard Moskovitz, M.D. And based on what I read in that book I felt that, when I was young, I could have been diagnosed as having it. That would not be the case anymore I presume. But I've been told BPD tends to burn itself out as a person ages. And I've certainly done that.

Here are links to a bunch of articles, from PsychCentral's archives, on the subject of BPD:

And then here's a links to 2 articles for your husband:

Hi and welcome to PC!

Are you in therapy?

There's a treatment called dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) that is particularly useful with BPD. Your husband can use it too.

Here is a website with more information: DBT Self Help

Hi and welcome! In addition to the suggestions above, I highly recommend you both read The Buddha and the Borderline, which is written by a borderline woman about her experience.

I had to figure out that I was borderline for myself, and the two things that have helped the most are mindfulness (slowing down and being aware of my thoughts) and also questioning my thinking. I used to take everything personally. Now I realize that if someone doesn't say hello, maybe they didn't see me; they were preoccupied; I didn't see/hear them acknowledge me... Someone didn't forget my birthday because they hate me; they just forgot... and so on. Oh, and boundaries. Learning about healthy boundaries is really useful, and Al-Anon literature is great for that. Not all overnight, okay? You are getting started.
