Hi everyone. I'm new here and just recently dx at age 30. After a completely awful day i decided to seek out a place where I can communicate with others also suffering BPD. I'm glad there is somewhere I can come and feel less alone and more understood. I'd love to hear from others so please feel free to say hi.
I hope you're all having a good day/night. x |

I'm scared. I've been diagnosed w/ bipolar 1 for the last 11 years, but now my T and my pdoc really believe that I'm a borderline personality disorder. I don't know how to take that. I can understand the the bipolar, it's brain chemistry. But I feel broken now. My T wants me to do DBT, and that is another thing that scares me. Now, I will have to tell my boss what I'm really going to the doc for.
I'm just scared. Jeffro |

I get my medical care from the VA. I'm a vet. But the only DBT that they have in the area is in New Orleans, and that is an hour and a half away. I would have to take so much time off of work, I would have to tell my boss why.

Just an idea: see if there is a meditation/yoga class in the area and try that first. It uses much of the same principles as DBT, and there are DBT workbooks you can purchase as well as an online DBT class that is free that you could try. Maybe try that and see if it may be of help before taking that step. I can supply more info if you'd like.

If you are now a private-sector employee and work for an employer with more than 50 employees, read on. Otherwise, you can ignore the rest of my post.
You can take leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act for this. It doesn't have to be taken in one solid block, but can be used intermittently for your appointments. It protects your job and it is none of your boss's business why you are using it. Check it out: http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/complian...ers/fmlaen.pdf. I realize it is very difficult to tell your boss you need to take time off without sharing something with him/her, and I wish I could come up with some verbiage for you, but be as vague as possible. He/she doesn't have a right to ask. You request FMLA through your HR dept -- check your personnel manual, or call HR directly and ask for an FMLA request form. |

Thanks real, but we only have 18, and I'm the HR department.

Hey everyone I am new. I was diagnosed in March of this year after 15 years of not having a diagnosis, numerous therapy attempts and reckless and dangerous behavior. I have BPD and Bipolar 2.

Hello, everybody...
I am new here, hope to get to talk to you all and feel little less lonely in going through all of this. I am 30 years old, was diagnosed five years ago. Since then it's ups and downs...I have good periods of a year and a half in which I function normally and forget my link to the disorder, and then, usually when certain stress happens, it goes back to bad period when I am reminded I am not like other people... Hope to meet others like me.... |

Hello,
New member here. was hesitant to start posting on a forum like this, hopefully postive for me. I am currently diagnosed with just insomnia and depression, however always felt like it was more complicated than that. Periodically check symptoms online and recently ready about personality disorders more so BPD. Had an almost episode at work today which made me come on here. Hope to read about situations that are like my own so I dont feel so different all the time. |
