I posted this under medications.........Benzo's have helped curb my bingeing and purging. I have to take them as soon as I get home at night because it can take up to 30min before I feel the effects(I have such a problem when my husband is away on business). They work so well. They wash the feelings and emotions right out of me. The less I partake in bulimic activities the healthier my body feels and it gets easier to fight the urge when I can not take them. I actually went 2 weeks with out an episode. My therapist is on board with me using them. I do not have to use them everyday. 2-4 times a week and starting to use them less as I recover.
Thanks for this!

My psychiatrist just gave me benzos for sleep this week. I have never heard of them associated with helping bulimia but I after reading your post, I have some hope of possibly putting a dent in my bulimia. I am soooo needing help right now!!

Thanks for posting this.

My PCP and I decided together to use ambien for sleep because I need the Xanax to do what it needs to do when I am in in throws of fighting off the urges to binge/purge or SI. It was best to keep the sleep meds and the anxiety med separate. The Xanax also has a half life in the body and I could still wake up at 3am while the ambien would keep me asleep. We did try Trazadone but I was so drugged still in the morning plus it increased my suicidal thoughts and made me feel more depressed.
Thanks for this!
