"If you’ve experienced trauma, you may be struggling with upsetting emotions, frightening memories, or a sense of constant danger. Or you may feel numb, disconnected, and unable to trust other people. When bad things happen, it can take a while to get over the pain and feel safe again." - From "Emotional and Psychological Trauma" helpguide.org, Authors: Lawrence Robinson, Melinda Smith, M.A., and Jeanne Segal, Ph.D. Last updated: October 2016.

This weekly chat is for anyone who has experienced a a trauma at any point in their lives and is struggling with getting over it. It will include articles and information and discussion, as well as time pre and post chat to check in and talk more informally and get to know each other better.

Pre-chat will begin at 6:40 MST

The first week will be a more informal, getting to know you time, as well as an outline of what will happen during the regular chat. If there is time, we can take a look at the article I have found for discussion the second week (see below for link)

On Monday, October 31st (EEK!) we will go over and discuss the first part of the following article (which is quoted in the introduction to this post) up to, but not including "Trauma recovery tip 1: Get moving"

Emotional and Psychological Trauma: Learning to Heal from Recent or Childhood Trauma and Move on with Your Life

Welcome!
Thanks for this!

Hi!

On Monday, we will look at the second half of "Emotional and Psychological Trauma
Learning to Heal from Recent or Childhood Trauma and Move on with Your Life" starting with the Tips. We will have an open discussion about the tips and if people have ever tried them and if they found them useful.

Emotional and Psychological Trauma: Learning to Heal from Recent or Childhood Trauma and Move on with Your Life

Pre-chat and check in will open at 6:45, and there will be a half hour post chat if people want one, as well.

Just for the records, this forum is for Chat announcements...whether people will attend or not, it's not necessary to post that here. Thanks!

Monday January 16:

Pre-chat and check-in will either start late or not happen.

We will be looking at the
Grounding and Safety Techniques
starting on page 9 of the same article as last week:

http://www.incaresurvivors.org.uk/re...techniques.pdf

we may or may not get through the whole section.
