I would like to rip out my spine right now. I really wish it would stop raining as well. I have Degenerative Disc Disease and had my first back surgery when I was 16, and now I'm 24. I usually go to the chiropractor, but since i'm out of work (which is not the reason I am out of work) I don't have any money to go.

Any suggestions as to what I could do? Besides taking painkillers. Had a problem with oxycotin in the past.

Ouchies!! My youngest daughter has the same thing. She had her first surgery 2 years ago at 25. I see what she goes through and can imagine how it's been for you as well. She also had issues with the painkillers as well.

There is not a lot that helps her when her pain is flaring a lot. Have you tried celebrex? Daughter says it helps now and again. Hot showers or baths may help you relax enough so that the pain is not so intense. I think, trying to get it under control before it flares really badly is the key to keeping it in check so that you are not over the top in pain. And I know that isn't always possible to do.

Have you tried any of the prescription pain patches? They do help a bit.

I hope you find some relief soon! I know the weather can be horrible to us with pain flares (I have fibro so I can relate a bit). Take good care!

I currently take mobic. celebrex really didn't work for me. neither did the pain patches. my pain was too deep.

I did a bunch of stretching and that seemed to help. I need to find my TENS unit and use that.

One doctor told me I had Fibro once. But I've been taking Cymbalta/Pristique/Effexor which have help keep most of the pain in check, along with my depression. I'm kind of worried though because my Pdoc is taking me off effexor and taking Prozac instead, and I don't want all that pain to come back. I've taken Lyrica/Nurontin (sp?) in the past, but they make me so sleepy, i tend to lose days.

Oh dear i know that feeling all to well. Unfortunatly i am not told that my back is so far gone that i cannot have surgery but i disagree i see my family doc on the 14th and am going to request to see a specialtist. Try warm baths, lying in a position that takes some pressure on the spine. If you have to take pain meds take them i don't like taking them either but if it helps then don;t worry about it.
