Hi, I have been in Pain Management for 6 years and am on a variety of Pain Medications and Muscle relaxers for Degenerative Disc Disease, Cervical Spinal Stenosis and Degenerative Joint Disease.

I would go to PM each month in horrible pain even with the Morphine and Roxicodone for Breakthrough pain. I finally decided to go ahead and have a nerve block in my neck.

They did a Nerve Block in my c5-6 and my c6-7, I can not even begin to express the level of reduction of pain in my neck from this. It is dangerous but so is living with neck pain to the point of not wanting to live. I still have chronic pain elsewhere in my body and still take my pain meds, but the cervical epidural has been an answer to 6 years of agony and pain in my right side of my neck.

I would recommend it to anyone with chronic pain who can not find relief elsewhere. I was so scared of it and now I want injections all up and down my spine as the relief has been incredible. The entire procedure took less than 10-minutes and I walked out with my walker and felt relief for the first time in years.

The antisteshiologist was kind and did an excellent job, it will be one month on the 21st of Feb, and I go back for my regular pain meds and to follow up on how it is holding, and when I will need injections again cause I am not sure how long it will last, but it was worth it for me.

Thanks for reading about my Nerve Block and hope maybe it can be of help to others suffering from nerve and spinal pain.

Take Care, kk101

Always good to hear positive news in this realm, and doubly so when it comes from and for you ((((101)))).

I have so many bone spurs in my neck, from the accident (because of, since) that little helps except to NOT move my head and neck certain ways.

I'm so happy for you to finally get some relief! I've had a nerve block in my L-4 and L-5. It only lasted 3 months but I'll take it. It might work longer for you hopefully. I'm just so tickled for you hun! Hugs

My Thanks and Gratitude go out to all who replied.

I hope those checking into the nerve block or also called like facet injections, spinal epidural, and others, I hope those out there on pain meds not getting relief can get the extra relief I have been able to get.

I am still in moderate pain but no where near the severe levels I had no idea how bad my pain was until I got the nerve block.

((((((((((((((((((((Hugs to all , gentle hugs to those in pain))))))))))))))))))

I'm just so happy it work for you. I know you waited a long time to have the procedure done but I think you made a good choice. I've only had it done once but go on March 2 for my next one. They did another kind of block for sciatica. I'm on quite a bit of meds including narcotics, which doesn't take all the pain away. If I can help in any way please let me know and hugs!

I am glad it did something for you! I went thru them and the only thing it did for me was make me numb for that day! I had a series of 3 done with no affects. good luck though!

I am sorry to hear that your injections did not take, I hope that as time goes by they will come up with more treatment alternatives for chronic pain, either new medications or something to help us who suffer from chronic pain.

Take care, kk101

I had 5 sets of nerve blocks in my neck that all they did was flare it for a week and then it went back to the same bad level of pain. With talking to people the key is the xray guidance. My advise to anyone would never never allow a doc go into the neck in particular without xray guidance. It was going in blind, and it never went to the right spot, and silly cause its something that should have been used.

I cannot thank you enough for telling me this. I am scheduled for this procedure on May 17 and was / am very nervous about it.
I ve been dealing with terrible back pain since 1982 when I broke my back in a fall. I've been on all sorts of drugs for such a long time, but that's not working anymore. So, thanks for this valuable info .. its given me a new sense of fearlessness and now I'm actually looking forward to it.
