I have this weird new pain in my feet. it feels like nerve pain. it started in my left foot and at the time my Dr wanted to send me to a podiatrist. I said no I think it is related to my back. Well last night it felt like something wide biting my right foot. nothing biting me. again it feels like nerve pain. guess I am gonna have to go see that podiatrist after all. just one more dr on the list! argh!

(((bebop))) I'm a bit confused over why the podiatrist. I have foot pain and the physical therapist shows it radiates from the spine; and is neuropathy. They've never sent me to a podiatrist, so I'm interested in if you get any good response.

Sorry, I know that I rarely have anything to say that you like lol but felt bad that your post has been sitting here with a response.

Try icing or heat on your low back? feel better soon

Hi, I have neuropathy throughout my body. Perhaps you are experiencing peripheral neuropathy. It feels like little bees are stinging your feet. The become hot and itchy/prickly. I feel for you. I am pretty young and have a number of chronic illnesses. I am in pain all the time. I hope it isnt PN. Hope it works out.

I also wanted to say that it was my my rheumatologist and neurologist who seperately identified the peripheral neuropathy. I guess a podiatrist would know those things too?, you might have better luck with the former two thou.hang in there.

Sorry you are hurting bebop!! I have upper and lower periphreal neuropathy. I never went to a podiatrist. The pains are different depending on the way I am sitting, standing, sleeping, or nothing at all, it seems sometimes. My doctor diagnosed me in his office. They hook electroids up to different areas on your body and see how long it takes for you to feel the pain. Since many of mine were all the way up before I even felt the slightest twinge...you would think there would be no pain but it is quite the opposite...lol. Anyway...do you have pain, numbness, tingling, or a burning feeling anywhere else, or is it just your feet? Have you thought about bone spurs? If you can explain other pains or sensations to your doctor, it should help him diagnose you. Writing things down before your next appointment might help. It's easy to forget about everything while you are there sometimes. Whatever you do...best of luck!!

So is there an update yet?

Talking about peripheral neuropathy...
long story short: assistant broke the swivel arm shower head, so I replaced the arm and put the old original head on it (cheaper) ...and I realized that the old head that has no force really behind it, well, I can't feel the water! It's the strangest feeling, to have water pouring down over my body and I don't feel it. I knew the feeling in my fingers, and from my knees down was really diminished, but had no idea bout my whole body because I always had a forceful showerhead to help massage my muscles!

Anyway... let us know how you are doing bebop.

oh Lord more stuff going on now too. it seems things can touch my legs and I don't know it. anyway I saw my dr this morning and he says it is PN. not sure yet where it is coming from. it is either my back issue, my diabetis or this lump in my butt! I will be having an mri friday evening. now I am scared! losing the feeling in both feet and both legs is getting to me. the realization that I may be wheelchair bound soon is not a good thought at my age. dr said it is a possibility if I don't have back surgery. I never wanted that but I can't take the hip pain I am now having as well. can't even sit in church without tremendous pain.

thanks everyone for advise and keeping check on me.

((bebop)) - I'm not familiar/educated with this kind of pain issue but just wanted to give some hugs and I hope this can be resolved or dealt with.

thank you lynn...the dr thinks the hip pain may be due to nerve impengement involving the siatic nerve. it is a new pain errrrrrrrr along with all the other crap.

I feel like I am on the verge of just losing it. too much going on and constant pain. so I was a good girl and took my xanax and pain meds.

I think on another thread I sent you a link about a new traction method - I don't know if this is applicable to your situation or not? What can the doctors do to relieve this pain you have besides medication?? I feel bad for you bebop. I had frozen shoulder pain for a several months and chronic pain really gnaws at a person.

right now my primary is talking about possible surgery to relieve the siactic pain. we know there is nothing that can be done about the torn disks but he says this dr is like a miracle worker. I tore 3 disks almost 6 yrs ago and have been dealing with that pain since then. this is a new pain in the hip. when it hits hard which is alot it goes all the way to the bottom of my right foot. nothing to be done about the nerve pain in my feet if it is diabetic related I don't think. he says I am headed to a chair and we are going to try to keep from that happening. hopefully

talking about possible surgery to relieve the siactic pain

I know you're a smart gal, but please research this on the web, and with other doctors! Just exactly WHAT is causing the sciatica? My sciatica is caused by my ilia going out of place and either causing pressure onto the nerve itself, or because of the distance one of them goes out, the pressure on the nerve is caused by inflammation. Surgery won't fix it.

I'm not saying that's your issue, but until they are sure what is causing it, I wouldn't let them anywhere near my spine.

Sorry to hear the bad news about the pinched nerve ((bebop)). How complicated is surgery for that kind of problem? Best of luck with the appointment.
