Bless your heart ~ I'm so sorry you're hurting so badly. You're right - this time of year sucks for people in chronic pain. I've been in chronic pain for 26 years and I sure know what you mean.

Thank goodness I don't have Fibro -- you poor thing. That must be awful, especially if you're in the Northern states where it gets cold!! I'm in Michigan, and BOY does it get cold here!! Tonight it's supposed to get down to 8 degrees above. Now that's cold!!! I have alot of spinal problems and have had several surgeries ~ it's left my spine a mess, plus i have permanent sciatica and that hurts like the devil!!! Some days you just want to tear your hair out!

I'll say some prayers for you ~ hurting all over must be just awful. I hope your doctor has you on some decent medications. God bless. Hugs, Lee

Thanks Lee. No meds for the pain. My docs and I have tried everything. The only thing that works at this point are narcotics. Then I can't function because I'm stoned.

Hey Lizard Lady,
I don't take any pain meds either, for the same reason. What I find helps on a bad day is taking 2 potassium pills first thing in the morning. I don't remember the dose, but mine are only 3% off a daily dose, so I don't have worry about O.D.ing on it. It works even better if I make sure and drink plenty of water that day.
Something to think about...

soft hugs my friend, i so understand the 24/7 pain of fibro...its so much worse when you live in the north country...here in michigan it is only 6 above right now and the cold affects every joint in my body, including my hands and fingers and toes...i take lyrica four times a day but lately it hasn't been helping like it used to...and on ms contin 3 times a day...but there too, it only works part of the time...the other part i dare not do anything but lay down and keep warm...know that i understand...

I'm sorry (((lizardlady)))) that you have not found anything that works.

It's great that you don't want to be on meds, however I am on meds and it takes care of about 70% of the pain.

My nerve pain is the worst, the pain just got to be so bad that my neurologist put me on Lyrica and I know, I know it causes weight gain and it has with me but not as much as I have seen people go on and on about.

From my knowledge of my pain, if your stoned on meds then your not on the right ones imo, I say that because if one is truly in pain and chooses to take medications, unless you take more then prescribed you ought not be stoned and being stoned is a clear indication that you aren't on the right thing or that you have taken too much of the drug.

Lizardlady have you ever thought about taking a simple guided imagery and turn it into something much more helpful imo again.

I just wish that you had no Pain ((((LizardLady)))))))

Please know I'm thinking of you and sending healing thoughts your way.
Your friend,
Crew

Interesting because I have been on a very high dose of narcotics since 2003....using the duragesic patches (fentynal) & they are absolutely wonderful.....change them every 72 hours.....none of the ups & downs I had with the pills that didn't work. Best of all, I have absolutely NO stoned feeling....never did. When they got the right dose.....I am also 100% pain free. It's strange though because there are times when I get the migraine symptoms....just not the pain with it. I had migraine pain 24/7 365 before getting on the right dose of the patches.....now I am able to function just as I did before I had the migraine pain.

Fibro may work differently.....but would think that the patches would work well as they are specifically for chronic pain. Know everyone reacts differently to the meds.......but I'm sure glad that I have had such great success.....wish it for everyone in pain as I know how horrible it is to not be able to function at all.

Gentle 's

I'm super glad you have found those to be your thing.

Unfortunately for me I have tried those and found I could not take them due to the side effects of the drugs.

I'm happy for you though Eskielover,

At least I still have my opinion...

Be well....Crew

Crew, how does guided imagry work for fibro pain? Never heard of that. It's not that I don't want to be on meds. If I could find something that worked without the stoned side effect I'd take it. I've tried everything available over the counter. They didn't help. Tried Lyrica... boy howdy I was high as a kite for days after just one dose! My primary care doc wanted me to try Savalle (sp?). It works on serotonin levels. Can't take it because I'm already on anti-Ds that work on serotonin levels.

All my life I've over reacted to side effects of meds. Tylenol-3 is supposed to be a mild pain med. Leaves me stoned out of my head. Anything stronger than Tylenol3 and I sit and stare at things that aren't really there.

Eskie, I hadn't thought of patches. I'm going to ask my doc about them.
