My back has been in bad shape for 3 days now causing me to cancel appointments and other activities. I got creative with my pain meds and combined a couple that the Doctor didn't recommend to mix. Now I feel really sick to my stomach. I don't know what brought it on or what I can do to fix it. I'm feeling really helpless.

Hi dazeofdolphins, back pain really sucks, sorry you are having such a tough time of it right now.

If your doctor didn't advise you to mix and you are now feeling sick, I wonder whether you need to seek medical advice?

I saw your other thread on lingering pain from shingles - TBH you're taking way too high a dose of acetaminophen and ibuprophen. Taking this high a dose can cause liver and kidney failure. If you have chronic pain issues, you should be asking your doctor for the best pain coping strategies so you don't have to take this much medication. There's also pain clinics that teach coping skills like meditation, acupuncture, the right exercises etc to relieve pain. Also chronic pain won't kill you so there's benefit in learning a certain degree of acceptance. For now drink plenty of water and eat something. If you think you overdosed then go to a clinic or ER.

pulling for you.

I hope you did not overdose.

Hope you did not have to have treatment for that.

I relate. I am trying to figure out pain management so that I wll not need so much meds either. Scary.

FYI - I don't have shingles. I think you are confusing me with someone else. I don't take those two meds. I'm actually on very little pain meds after going through a chronic pain clinic. You are right, chronic pain won't kill you and I do accept my situation. It helps to be a therapist!

Sorry I accidentally got you confused with another poster in this forum...I got the names confused and was in a hurry. Good for you with going to a chronic pain clinic and being on minimal meds. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm not sure what the above sentence means. Are you a therapist?

Yes, I'm a therapist. I am a consumer too. That's why I use PC. I can help others and also get help for myself. Just goes to show you that the world really is round...

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
