Have just cleared out of a 3day migraine. Woot! I can hopefully count on minimal headache pain for at least 48 hrs. My knee and legs ache but I feel like I can live through anything with the relief in my head right now! My wrists have been a lot better past week or so.
I hope everyone will have a comfortable, or at least tolerable night!

I am just recovering from a three day headache, starting off as a terrible migraine and gradually lessening. By back feels so tense and I feel so limited. I hate times like these.

just got back from an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon about my right wrist; he's not recommending surgery at this point, but I do have really bad arthritis and I have to wear a splint ---he says to let him know in about six weeks how i am doing (sigh)

I am actually feeling less pain. I was having lots of breakthrough pain even with Tramadol and Tylenol. The sad part about it is I am feeling less pain because I'm not doing diddly--not walking much, not doing laundry, not sweeping the floor, etc. Sigh.

I was mugged about 6 years ago right after having surgery on my back for cancer. The culprits beat the living crap out of me so bad that the muscle in my back that was healing from surgery is irreparable. Last week I worked so hard that this week, I cannot move my shoulders or neck and it caused a migraine. I've been laid up for 3 days sick and taking injections. Does it ever really get better?

I was doing better for awhile but in the past week I've been miserable. I gave in and went to urgent care last eve and now I've been awake all night. Need to readdress some things with regular doctor, but I never know what to say really. I try to be honest, but I feel shameful about asking for the help. I never know if I'm down playing things? Being over dramatic? Should I be asking for this test? Or that treatment? I don't know. I do know my alarm is going to go off in 45 minutes for work. I'm sure that'll just feel great.
Sorry for whining. I truly hope you are all feeling your best?

Why not write it all down for the doctor to read, or you to refer to when discussing these things? That way you can remove the emotionality... write the way you feel first, then continue to edit it until you have "just the facts" and let the MD decide what all might be causing something.

I've tried to deduce a symptom in the past, telling the MD what I thought was causing it and was later found to be wrong...we went down a path that went nowhere then...so I rather just tell my MD... I'm not sleeping well, waking with migraines rather than I think I'm waking with migraines because...

See my point? Remember MDs became MDs because they want to help people physically...figure things out...be the expert. ASK them for help and make them feel good. Chronic pain check in

I finally found something that works for a little while at least. It is oxycodone 15mgs for now. will probably go up next week to 30mg, finally a little relief.

This pain is becoming impossible to deal with. I can't DO anything properly. I'm always crying over it, and I never cry over pain. I've broke bones and laughed in the ER. This is just torture.

Do you guys think it is more effective to tackle one thing at a time with doctors? Or should I lay out all the problems? My main goal is to address my migraines, but some of my other pain management issues also need addressing. If I want the migraines taken care of should I just talk about that, and deal with the other stuff later? What do you think?

So tired of being in pain. Is it possible that this pain is wearing me out?

I feel pain constantly, and because it is in my head, literally, I don't know how I am going to go on some days. I take to my bed but even there I find no relief.

I think the fact that I rarely if ever have relief is taking a terrible toll on me. I am not the same anymore. I am losing this battle to get well... it is so fatiguing and I am just wearing out.

My doctors changed my mood disorder meds because they were suspicious of the side effects of the antidepressant I had been taking. After the antidepressant left my system and the new med built up to a therapeutic level, I began to have excessive pain radiating from my back. I feel like I have a knife in my back that keeps getting twisted. After doing some research, I found that the new med the doctors prescribed can actually cause back pain. I began to wean myself off the new medication immediately. I was able to see a psychiatrist, who would not admit that the med can actually cause physical pain, but did tell me to continue removing the medication and prescribed a resumption of my previous antidepressant. I spoke with a few health care professionals who specialize in psychiatric medicine (not the actual psychiatrist I worked with this week) and they said that, in general, antidepressants can be prescribed as part of pain management--that they can offer pain relief by themselves. I suspect that I would have pain in my back if I took no prescriptions at all. I also believe that the recent experimental medication caused me to suffer a great deal, that it cause much more pain than if I had been able to avoid it all together.

The first time I went to see my new neurologist she asked if I was in pain every day. I said no, more like 14 to 20 days out of the month.
Then she prescribed a new medicine and adjusted the dose twice, plus a prn if needed - and I realized I'm a big fat liar. Its been so long since I had a pain free day I had forgotten what they feel like! I had been in pain every single day for years, and it was so normal I didn't even know it!
I feel so much better now. Now my answer is really the truth.

What are you taking(if you don't mind sharing) Gr3tta? My new neurologist has me scheduled for an new MRI & shots; steroids/lidocaine/botox. Have you ever done any of these? I have pain everyday, have for two years now. Me thinks I will crack up before I get relief.

I am new to this site and am a sufferer of chronic pain. I have fibromyalgia and a bad back as well. Its nice to see a site where you can talk about things like this and all the other forums here. I think this will be helpful for me to have people who truly understamd the physical and mental health issues i deal with too. I am going to ask my doctor if i can try Lyrica now, ive tried all the other ones the insurance wants you to try first. I really need to manage this pain, its so awful. Nothing seems to work at all. I get so frustrated with myself. Not being able to do the things i used to is a bummer too. I cant walk as far and as long as i used to be able to. My Mom can last longer than me. its just tough to deal with, and i dont have any outlets for any of this stuff. thanks for reading through. Take Care of You.

I know what you mean, shortandcute! I have been trying to be more active lately, and my back pain has really ramped up. I've had to get up in the middle of the night to take more pain meds because I can't sleep.

Doctors won't take my pain seriously. When I go in to see anyone, its always "Oh youre just not doing enuff" and not doing any thorough examinations.
