Effing still feel like sh.t. It was bad and I white knuckled it. Had to quit, pain sucks as oxy was the only thing that touched it, could list a ton of opioids here won't waste your time, VA gives pain meds, long term and heavy duty stuff, really really easily. I was thankful to have the pain relief, maybe more thankful today bc my brain seems to be more clear. Withdrawals are over I hope. That **** sucked, I never want to do it again

Yeah that was a fast withdrawal. I hope your struggles are over. I weaned myself off more gradually even though I was on it for around 6 months.....

HOLY CATFISH! That had to be miserable! I remember when I cold-turkeyed booze & Xanax, and I thought i'd crawl out of my skin! Being a recovering alcoholic, I sure wanted to drink -- and i didn't know I wasn't supposed to cold-turkey the Xanax cause you could have seizures. I got lucky and didn't. But boy it was awful, so I can imagine what YOU went thru.

I'm so glad your withdrawals are over!!! Whew! I wish your pain was gone with it tho. Prayers coming your way. Take care & God bless. Hugs, Lee

Cold turkey withdrawals are hell. I went through opiate withdrawal and it's the worst, even worse than quitting anti d's like Effexor cold turkey. Took at least 2 wks for the main side effects and burning pains, chills.

I only went through similar 6 weeks ago so I can totally relate to how awful it is.

The title of your thread caught my eye! I am so very glad you are OK (we had a horrible experience with this in our family)

I wish you the best and continued healing

(oh and welcome to PC, of course. I hope you will stick around and post and let us know how you are doing)
Thanks for this!

Congrats.
I went cold turkey myself off when they had me up to 320 mgs a day. I also dropped 2 uppers and 2 downers at the same time that they put me on to counter the oxys. It was hell- no doubt. I am curious though, I went through a "honeymoon" period as I call it of no pain for about a month. I also experienced heigthened sexual experiences (like being a teenager again). I am wondering if others have experienced this. I know of some that have.

Still off the oxy but I bet I am ruining my liver with the Ibuprophin, ex strength tylenol and Orthrotec I am taking. You do not know how I have wanted to get oxycodone, have asked my va Doc but (thankfully) I had told her abt the quitting side effects. Hey, my sexual desire is still gone. we are like 2+ months out and I assumed mt testoterone would have increased, - so instead of being like a teenager I am like a non-sexual being. No idea what this is all abt, other than maybe its abt the pain I am constantly trying to subdue. one thing for certain, i am doing sooo much better at work. clearer mind. quite the difference. also, does anyone have huge gaps in memory - like no **** huge gaps... big stuff, things i should remember are gone.

I went off cold turkey too on April 3, 2012, at the same time I went off vicodin, fentenyl, xanax and 80 oxys. I was an addict for sure, but I have stayed off. But also like u I am frying my liver with aleve, and ibuprofen and tylenol. I have tryed some muscle relaxers but they dont help. Sometimes I wonder if I will die from the pain, but i am sure I wont. I am going to see my primary soon and tell him we need to do something soon I cant live this way.

Wow, good for you! I've always tapered on and off my pain meds, and that can sometimes be bad enough, so I give you loads of credit for making it this far!

I am sorry you are in so much pain I have CRPS and Dystonia, as well as neck and back injuries and chronic migraines, and can relate to being in a lot of pain all the time.

Best of luck to you!
