I'm glad you are taking care of your pressure sore. To be in a nursing home and to have the sore to the bone is inexcusable. I know it's hard but I would like to suggest a few things. Can you stay on your alternating pressure mattress and be sure to turn at LEAST every two hours? Can you take your extra prn meds? If the sore is causing pain that is actually a good sign as it means it's not too deep yet. Also, you can get an alternating pressure pad for your chair as well. Lastly, I am not familiar with your illness but if you can speak you can train a voice recognition program. Sky has one. I have had them but never played with them. This is a program that will type what you say so you can be online as much as you want and not get tired fingers. Please let us know how you are. Take care.

tita where are you? I worry for you as everyone in your position needs an advocate. I am not familiar with where you live so I do not know resources. You deserve good pain management. If you are having increased pain with the alternating pressure mattress speak with a nurse and make sure it is set on a soft enough setting. The idea is that you move and the air moves constantly to keep pressure off those points. I have worked with chaplains at N.H.s and some are awesome and will advocate for what you need physically to make you feel better.

Your post resonated with me. It reminds me of the passion I have that we each are treated well despite our conditions. Please, if there is anything you need or anything I can do let me know. Peace.

I'm here in The Bronx, NYC. thanks so much for listening to my rambling and all that I just very much in pain I had to be sent out to the hospital.I saw My Pallative DR and was on one of his floors He's not happy with my phisical condition My Dr. don't want me in this Nursing Home The only problem is finding a facility that wants Me. as of last week no place wants me it partly has to do with my mental health problems and that this illness is very rare in
regular ppl words it means My Spinal Cord is dying along with My Brainstem.the other name for it is spinocerebellar Degeneration. that's what the DR's call it.I call it pain
Thanks wisewoman,Sky.and Hillbunny

Tita, I wish you luck with finding a better facility. I think you should be in a much better place as well.

I'm glad your pallative doctor is looking out for you both to help with the pain and to get you in a better facility more suited to taking care of you. Hope they find someplace/someone who will help make you as comfortable as possible.
