Hey rainbowz, I said earlier in this forumthat I had a pain in the neck and butt, and was a pain in the neck and butt so I'd fitright in. Pain is not something we can measure universally.

oh wisewoman. Always so wise (and witty to boot!)
thank you for making me feel accepted! Im having a heck of a time with my back lately and with headaches, and since opiate like drugs cause a nasty reaction with me I cant take much except nsaids. I suppose thats good, as I dont even have the opportunity to get into a mess with the narcotics ( as in getting addicted to them accidentaly - or purposefully.) What are some other good ideas for dealing with pain in the moment? |

Are you kidding? Of course, you can post here Rainbowzz!!
You have just as much right to post here as any of us do!! I love your name, BTW. I'm so sorry about your spine!! It's too bad that you aren't able to take much for pain meds. (Opiates) I am one of the lucky ones who has a great PM Doc and I do realize I'm lucky. I am also sorry about your headaches. Do you think it's from your spine? I know my headaches are from the herniated discs in my neck, and they can be a killer!! I hope you start to feel better soon!! Take care, Linda

I agree, as pain is subjective, anyone who has chronic pain can post here! As for that, anyone can post here anyway!
I would never say that my pain is more than what another feels. The body just doesn't work that way. Some of us might be more descriptive of what we are enduring, but imo, if a pain is chronic and someone is suffering, does it really matter who is suffering more than another? ![]() (((rainbowzz))) and (((((everyone else))))

i agree with everyone.... about everything... and Rainbowzz... have you tried warm water therapy? I did and it was nice if I took it easy.... i had to be very gentle with myself but it did help for a bit...
Can the curves be corrected with a brace or anything? My great aunt had a problem with curvature of the spine and she wore a brace... Anyhow.. welcome.. anytime.. hope you find relief...

Pain clinic, accupuncture if you can afford it, I can't but it has done me wonders. Warm water, {drooling}. Hope you find some relief. Oh yeah, injections have helped me as well.

hi everyone
wow what a nice response to come back to! Thanks for all the suggestions. The acupuncture creeps me out a little but I would be willing to try it i think. The warm water therapy, Ive never heard of it. Im guessing it involves warm water (har har) but what else does it entail? About the brace - we are actually looking into it as we speak. And I am getting an Obusforme for my computer chair too. |

warm water therapy really is nothing more than moving around in the water.. and yes.. warm would be at least 84 degrees...( silly)...
it depends on your condition really..i did it with a rehab center and for me it was mainly walking in the water shoulder high if i could manage that. and I floated around with one of those noodles the kids like to play with.. wonderful things actually...with that I was free to move my legs and arms without having to keep myself afloat... It included moving my arms holding small weights.. and sometimes I had weights on my ankles too...but thats what they did for me.. and I am sure it would be different for oyu based on what you need or can do... As long as i didn't overdo it I did feel pretty good the rest of the day after going. I tried to maintain this kind of exercise but the water at the Y was too cold for me and i can't afford a rehab center membership....but it was good while it lasted. I hope you find relief....
