Hey great forum!

Many of you might know me from my sporadic posting in the PTSD, anxiety, and drug forums. Well, here I am... I have a tendency to wander in and then wander off for awhile.

Anyway... my pdoc just recently (like a month ago) finally threw another term at me to research... Fibromyalgia. So I did my google searches and read all about it and chronic fatigue syndrome and how the two are closely related to PTSD. I guess these are a couple of diagnoses to add to the growing pile.

So I am on Cymbalta now, getting off my Paxil. It seems to be helping. But it has been difficult coming to terms with all the different aspects of my PTSD. Healing and coping are difficult roads. intro and recent fibro diagnosis

Well, just wanted to introduce myself a little. See you all around the boards. intro and recent fibro diagnosis

Hello and Welcome to the Chronic Pain Support Thread..... We do out best to lend a helping hand and always give a warm heart to those in need, as they are hurting from physical pain.

I personally have both RA & Fibro and I have been working with my Rheumy doctor for the last 10 years to try and maintain a positive twist on the pain and to keep me functioning in this world.... to enable a better quality of living.

LoVe,

Hi,
How did you make the transition off of Paxil? My MD and pdoc would like me to get on Cymbolta too but I've been too scared to try. I am in constant pain.
Thanks,
Lu

I reduced my dose of Paxil while increasing my dose of Cymbalta:

I started at 60 mg Paxil.

First shift: 40 mg Paxil, 30 mg Cymbalta. After two weeks, I went down to 20 mg Paxil and up to 40 mg Cymbalta. That jump was rough. After 2 more weeks, I dropped to 10 mg of Paxil, but that was too much of a crash in the SSRI.

I went up to 50 mg Cymbalta and maintained the 10 mg Paxil. That is where I am now. In a few days, I am going off the Paxil completely and up to 60 mg Cymbalta.

The transition was not easy, but I am definitely feeling a lot better than before.
