Hey all... well, I messed up and totally forgot ( fibrofog) an appt. with the pain doc which had been on Dec27th. When I finally realized I had missed it, I thought it was supposed to have been the 28th or 29th, so I was in a bad fog...

I am just getting out of a flare from the holidays, and getting over bronchitis too Withdrawal Medsso its no wonder I forgot it.for some reason, this doc doesn't call to remind me like my other docs do...and I'm rambling...

They can't see me until Feb and of course,I am low on meds( which is how I realized what I had done)so I asked the girl," So,is he gonna call in a script for me so I don't run out then?" and she said.." do you want him to call in some withdrawal meds" and I panicked... this is my first time on medication for pain... I don't know how this stuff works... so I was like," You mean,I'm gonna have to withdraw off meds?I'm gonna be punished for missing an appt?"

See, she was VERY sarcastic and demeaning in her tone towards me and so at first I got defensive....but when she told me that was what would have to happen, I broke down and started bawling Withdrawal Meds...

Now, when I went to pick up the scripts, they gave me a "cocktail mix" of 3 different meds specifically to use for withdrawal from narcotics....

My question to you wise folks is this.... is it typical to have to go thru withdrawal of meds when you miss an appt like that? And I know I should be able to find it here, but I couldn't..are lyrica and lexepro considered narcotics? I'm not on anything else.. no opiates...

I dunno. besides being poorly treated by the woman on the phone,I am just not sure about this withdrawal stuff... these meds all have awful side effects...bad enuf to make a person feel like they are being punished for sure....

And just so ya know, I already have plans to talk to the doc himself about her behavior...it was way out of line.I am a gentle spirit and I wasn't being ugly to her.... Withdrawal Medsalthough I got to that point where I wanted to say some not very nice things to her Withdrawal Meds

I'm planning to call him tomorrow and talk to him about these meds too, but I want your input so I know what to trust when I DO talk to him ya know?thanks ya'll!

I hope everyone is having painfree days and joy-filled hearts....Faith

Hello Faith. I think you are making the right decision in talking to the Dr about all of this withdrawal is not the easiest thing to go through. Call and talk directly to the Dr and see what the Dr says for you to do at this time. I hope everything works out for you Faith hang in there. Takd Care Soidhonia

I would have asked to speak with the doctor right then and there, but since you planned to do that today. .. good! Let us know how it went.

Doctors are already antzy about prescribing pain meds Withdrawal Meds this is their problem that they make ours, unfortunately.

Lyrica--I don't know what that is, but Lexapro isn't some heavy duty narcotic--it's an AD. I wouldn't think the doc would just have you go through "withdrawal" without seeing you & explaining what the heck is going on. If I miss an appt., the doc authorizes enough pills til my next appt., then decide if I need to continue on them after seeing me. Not having some nurse try to "withdraw" me.--Suzy

The Lyrica looks ugly: http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-9396...me=Lyrica+Oral

Lexapro, being an SSRI, has it's own problems with withdrawal.

Wow Faith, to be honest, I have never heard of a doc doing this.
He should have gone ahead and sent the script in for your pain meds and then seen you at your appt. in Feb.
Was this girl his nurse or just an office girl? If she was just an office girl, she had no right to even talk to you about whether you get your pain meds or withdrawal meds. His nurse should have been the one to talk to you about it.
Besides, like I said, I have never heard of a doc doing this. Especially, since you just missed an appt. It wasn't like you lost your meds or something.
I sure hope you tell the doc how you were treated and that you sure didn't appreciate being treated this way.
Hopefully, the doc will see it your way and have a talking to, to the girl. And, also go ahead and write you out a script for your pain meds.
Wishing you lots of luck. Let us know how it turns out as I really do care what happens.
Hugs,
Linda

Faith you may want to ask if the person you are talking to for her credentials (RN, LPN,LVN, Med Tech, office tech) it is ILLEAGAL for anyone who is not a RN, LPN or LVN to represent themselves as a nurse so... you could raise a stink with this. Also you can ask to talk to the REAL Nurse or your doc at any time. You might suggest that they start the reminder calls to help them with scheduling and to remind their pts of dates and times

Update.. I saw the doc and he HAD called in some lyrica to get me thru but NOBODY from the doc's OR the pharmacy called me so I never knew they were there!!!! Withdrawal Meds

He talked with me about my emotional state too and asked me if I was in therapy, which i assured him I am...and he put me right back on the meds, starting from the beginning.... so we'll see...

Thanks for all your input everybody.... Withdrawal MedsFaithisAlive
