I have my orthopedic appointment coming up.
10 months ago, I got stuck on the side of my bathtub. I woke up horrible nauseated and I sat on the side of my tub to dry heave until it was extremely painful. I couldn't get up after. The pain in my shoulder was too bad. I went to the er and they said I had a kidney infection. -_- nothing about the whole reason I went in. It's been hurting non stop since. My orthopedic gives me somas and ultracets but it's not enough. I don't have full use of my arm. I can't extend it fully. I can't hold more than 3lbs (I did the math) and it's my dominate hand too. So trying to use my right hand for everything is really hard. My ortho just gave me what he did and said there was no reason for a follow up appointment. I went to my pcp and he said it was just a sprain. What kind of sprain lasts 10 months and counting? I've been trying to wait to see if it will stop but if anything, it's getting worse. Here lately, if I lay slightly flat in a weird way, I can feel something sliding in my shoulder. It makes me break out in goosebumps, makes my stomach turn and gives me the chills because it's such a strange feeling that I can't even explain it. I can't lay on that side. I'm so tired of this pain. Does anyone have any ideas? It's my left shoulder blade on my back. |

Hello A18793715, did you get an x-ray on it? Sounds like you have damaged it more than a sprain. It could be a type of arthritis which can happen after an injury. I'm glad you have an appointment, make it clear how much pain you are in.

They did an MRI when I was in the er but not an X-ray.

I would ask the ortho for x-Rays and another MRI. It could be that you have an injury that didn't show up the first time. And get him to examine you thoroughly.
Depending on results, maybe some physiotherapy would help? |

I can't afford therapy.
![]() I'll ask my ortho for both. I'm so tired of dealing with nonstop pain. I just sit here and cry because I hear voices 24/7 on top of not being able to use my dominate arm and it constantly hurting 24/7. It makes my depression so much worse and then I feel like the doctors are just looking at me as a drug seeker because I get 120 2mg Xanax and 60 10mg Valium a month and all doctors give me the same look. One doctor told me "no legit doctor would ever prescribe that much." It's kinda making me suicidal. |

You need effective pain relief, not medication to sedate you! I hope your appointment brings a positive outcome in this. Hang on for that.

i suffered for years in my hips with something docs never considered: bursitis. the bursa is a small sack of cartilege-like tissue with fluid in it for the joint to slide over. you might have pulled it loose when you were asleep in the tub. it can hurt like the dickens and never stop, and worse when you put pressure on it, like laying on it. i got help when i went for Physical Therapy. they have a 'wand' that emits infra-red radiation (heat), which somehow helps that tissue regenerate.
i hope you find what you need SOON~! best wishes~ Gus

Thank you. I'll ask my doctor what he thinks about that during my appointment next week. |
