I'm currently sitting at home with abdominal pain and my belt puled in just a tad too tight in order to deal with it. I could see a doctor about it but if the doctor didn't know what was causing the pain a year ago why would they know today? I'm telling myself this is just my GI issues acting up and that it will pass in a couple days but for now I am miserable. I have a small pharmacy of medications I can take Zoforan for stomach problems, Flexeril for muscle pain, Atavan for anxiety, along with a variety of over the counter medications. Nothing really seams to help consistently.
About a 6 months ago I started putting cloth pins on my body when I got episodes. I found that physical pain I had control over was easier to deal with than physical pain I didn't have control over. I have decided I'm going to try to stop doing that but I don't know what to do instead. I know from past experience that I can't function on prescription pain medications, but at this point I'm not sure that matters anymore. There is always heating pads I guess. right now I don't want to use those because it requires driving to the pharmacy and anyways those things always say not to use them over night which is when I get most of my pain. I'm really frustrated right now. I'm trying to stay positive. Tomorrow is a new day, but right now I'm really depressed. Any help would be appreciated. p.s. Yes I'm on anxiety medication and seeing a therapist |

Just because one doctor couldn't figure it out doesn't mean another one might not. Some doctors, frankly, just aren't very good, and some of them don't care enough to investigate deeply, especially with psych patients. I would really recommend finding another doctor.
In the meantime, I find peppermint oil or tea somewhat helpful with abdominal pain. Ginger helps with nausea. Microwaveable heat packs help me too (and I do use them at night, just use a towel on top to make sure it doesn't burn you), or soaking in a hot bath. None of this cures the problem, but it does help make the pain more manageable. |
