I think I have fibromyalgia. I think it was caused by long term stress. During childhood my narcissistic parents sucked the joy out of life leaving me with extreme aniexty, OCD, panic attacks etc.
I never felt wanted, loved or valued in any way. Never hugged, cuddled or touched. A total breakdown at 17 years of age.

Childhood should be carefree full of love and sun. Everyone has ups and down of course but mostly a kid should feel secure, happy. I felt fearful, mother didnt like me at all.

Many experts believe that fibromyalgia is not a disease, but is rather a chronic pain condition brought on by several abnormal body responses to stress. Areas in the brain that are responsible for the sensation of pain react differently in fibromyalgia patients than the same areas in healthy people. So how about you, did stress cause your fibro?

I am sorry you are suffering from fibromyalgia. I know how that kind of childhood can lower self esteem and make panic the normal state of mind.

There are many articles that can lend insight here in Psych Central archives
