I can't believe they went through an entire article on pain management without even mentioning hypnotherapy.
Of course the use of drugs for pain management became more popular then hypnosis many many moons ago. Hypnosis has been used for pain management as far back as records go. Someday I hope more people will return to more natural way's of pain management. Rick

Yes, well you know how it goes. In the same vein, my attorney went through an entire deposition with my MD and never once mentioned or asked her about my PTSD
![]() ![]() I could use some extra pain management right now. Actually, I've been in flare for over a month. The problem with me is that once the pain exceeds level 8, I have real trouble focussing to use hypnotherapy.

Sky,
Have you been to a certified Hypnotherapist? Are you experianced in the art of self hypnosis? Alot of people have problems getting into "the zone" when first using self hypnosis. After learning the art and practicing at least twice a day, you can get into the trace state without a problem, even while in extreme pain. Rick

Thanks Rick. I sure can always use more help! I used hypnosis for dental work when I had my own office back in MO. The dentist used it because of my allergies to meds
![]() ![]() I was injured in an industrial accident 20 years ago. Things rather went out the window then, but I'm sure it was because of all my training that I got through those first 8 years without family or medicine...not well, but through. I have chronic myofascial pain and PTSD (from not getting the help I needed at the time) I do meditation when I can. When the pain exceeds the basic pain med, I use calming techniques to help, but once it goes above that, my T has to help me find a place to "be." I use a marble for focus and such thoughts, T and I worked with suggestions with that...and I don't even have to have a marble now, just remember to think of it, to have good effects most of the time. I don't get full results for long periods of time, it's subjective, you know, depending upon the pain level etc. I would love to be able to dissociate from all the pain, honest! (BTW I did have 2 children eons ago, naturally with self hypnosis...not a perfect success, but it worked.)

Sky, You can do anything you set your mind too !!!!
Meditation and relaxation techniques are both forms of hypnosis. You NEVER want to take away all of the pain. Pain serves a purpose. But using self-hypnosis everyday to teach your mind and body how to connect is a very good start. Then I would suggest you find a Certified Hypnotherapist in your area that is trained in HypnoAnesthesia and Pain managment. Ask them to teach you the techniques that you need to know. Remember you get what you reinforce. If you think, act and believe positive - you WILL get positve. Rick

Yes, My T is certified. I have all the tools I need... just need some down time on the pain to get a handle on it...and that doesn't happen. I could get by quite well without any pain, I think, as it's from misfiring nerves, and misunderstood messages in the brain
![]() LOL if you only knew what I can do with my mind! T and I have surely discussed this working on trying to improve my abilities for the pain ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
