Hi everyone, I am a PT that stops in from time to time . I have studied pain a lot and I try to provide a different perspective occasionally. I also think it is important for healthcare professionals to see an individual as a whole person not just an injury or an illness Coming to boards like this help to give more awareness about all that people with chronic pain are going through.
Boards like this one can be great for people with chronic pain. It's nice to know there are others who have gone through and are going through similar things as you and you are not alone. The one thing that I think can be difficult is that constantly reading about dealing with pain can lead to a very negative environment at times.
I wonder what you would think about starting a sticky ( always stays at top of list)" Positive Only " thread. A place to go to talk about or quickly comment on some of the positive things going on in their life (I would recommend negative posts be moved or deleted but that is not my decision). For instance posting " My son is graduating college today" or "I got a new car today" or " I have a new nephew"or "I won in fantasy football". There are positive things that are happening to/with us everyday and I think we should share and celebrate with each other those experiences as well. I feel this too allows us to see the whole person and not see users as just their illness or condition. Just and idea.
What do you think?

Chrain, I agree that focusing on the negative in life can create a negative environment. My experience at PC is that the members post about positive stuff in their lives in other forums around the board. Those of us who post here, especially in the fibro check in thread, vent because we have no place else in life to unload. We vent here because the outside world either doesn't understand or don't want to hear about it.
Thanks for this!

It's nice to meet you Chrain and thanks for your thoughts. I agree with Liz about the fibro thread. No one at all understands us.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
