Ok, the first step is done. Neuro sat and talked to me for a while and had me doing some pushing on his hands. mogs was with me and he got to ask and interject a lot. he wanted a lot of detail on my headaches...way more than my legs. He said I should have tapered off the meds and I said I was told to do it this way. he says the shaking is side effect of going off those meds. He is setting up an MRI to be done and wants to wait and see what psych does with my meds before playing with them more. he added low dose neurontin. He wanted all my dads files to see his progression and track similarities, so I had a waiver for my dad to sign..he actually did...moggles has a smoootthhhhh tongue. A gift. I couldnt believe it. Mogs asked about the fibro and the dr was snippety about that saying drs use it when they dont diagnose properly...so now we wait and see. Hugs everyone...next appt is 15th with internal and 17th with psych intake...ugghhh ~ Melanie

Good to hear! Yes, there are some basic 'hand' and 'foot' sensing tests that they do. I agree (and have stated so in the past) that while fibromyalgia does represent a real disorder, it just doesn't get respect because so many doctors toss the term to patients without really finding out what is going on. Sounds like he could be a keeper for you!

I am so glad that you got this far.... what an accomplishment ... really.....

I've been working... at getting my DX... which is fibro treated for several years... my family dr... doesn't believe in pain control....so I went to an internist the first of Jan...

Many different type of nerve diseases have similiar symptoms and its not easy to differentiate one from the other many times, its a process of elimination and may take some time and quite a few tests. So far the doctor sounds like a good one.

i cringe when i read of a doctor not believing in pain control. It s been known for a long time that pain breeds on pain and also has a profound physiological and psychological effect on a person , not to mention quality of life. That doctor should find a new profession, or read some medical journals and get up to date.

I sat with my dad and mom for a while and moggles was there so when I paused he jumped in to finish my sentences.

My dad also had bad headaches when he was a bit younger then me, just like the ones I get. Then the seeing things in right eye (black spot) and the pain there, he had that too and some days he had to wear eye patch to be able to drive. I havent started falling like he did in the beginning. So he signed release form for his doc and my doc to chatter and he can view all dads test results!!

So, yea, I am happy that appt is over with and now to worry about the next one...internal medicine...than psych next week. And I should get a phone call for the MRI...dad had to have 4 done before they saw the lesions. I hope this neurontin helps. Oh and the dr was very nice and told me to email him whenever i wanted...so yeah he may be ok. keeping my fingers crossed.

(((((((((((huggsss))))))))))))) to all of you. Thank you for all your help and guidance.

I think that was great of your dad; very brave for a man. He has, in essence, said that what he's been through was really tough for him, and he wants to spare you of it. Some dads would have never admitted that, in any form! TC

No offense meant. Guys do tend to suck it up and not complain, tend to minimize things from their own life. I'm glad there are more and more men who are allowing "their sensitive sides" to rally to a cause. Neuro Appt done...

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! I am glad I know a sensitive man who's happy to help!!! LOL Neuro Appt done... Neuro Appt done... Neuro Appt done... Especially since I feel especially dense right now. I might get worse as more meds are shed and new ones come aboard!! But for now I have added the nuerontin 200 mg bid. I am supposed to increase it to 200 tid over the next week. And he said it can be increased if we need to..but it depends on which psych meds p-doc wants to use in conjunction with all my others. LOL Heck maybe they will take me off all of them adn I will miraculously be cured!!haha not likely. Neuro Appt done... melanie
