Well, it's official. I have surgery on my elbow on June 24th. I am both excited as it may mean full range of motion in my elbow again, but I am also scared to death because of the unknown. I mean, I know I will be knocked out so that makes me out of control....scary.
Also, I am scared because she said it could make things a bit worse, but she is pretty sure it won't. Ugh, Just wish it was a promise things won't get worse.
Anyways, wanted to post an update.

I figur with surgery, you've gotta stay positive, you know? I had surgery on my knee, so I know how you feel, but the doc said as long as I think it'll be ok, 9 times out of ten it will. Surgery in June

Thanks Sky an mormo. I need that. I tend to dwell on the "what-ifs" and all the bad things that MIGHT happen or COULD happen, but I need to be positive so I can fight to get better on time and not drag it out!

I learned a trick to help with pre-surgery anxiety before my second of three surgeries. My surgeon recommended listening to calming music around the same time as check in for a couple of weeks before the surgery. Some places will even allow you to take the music in and listen to it during surgery!

This really helped me to relax and maybe it would be worth a try for you. I chose nature music but they also recommended classical. I also listened to it during recovery when things in the hospital got overwhelming. I could put on my headphones and close my eyes and just refocus a bit.

Best of wishes with the end results. Surgery in June
