Every since my move to KY, my joints have become stiffer & stiffer.
To start with, the knee I had reconstructed feels almost like it did before the surgery....I rationalize that away because I haven't done any weight lifting leg exercises to build the muscle to help hold the knee together....so it's crunching & goes out once in awhile. Every since the ice storm the end of January/beginning of Feb, the joints in my fingers & hand are so stiff, I can't close my fists. Then the hip that I had fractured many years ago is starting to ache. Along with every joint in my body. I need a hot shower in the morning just to get my body un-stiff so I can move. I would say if it hurts or not....the only problem is that I am on such a high dose of Fentynal duragesic patches for the migraine head ache that were constant, that all I feel is one huge ache all over my body. Have no idea what is going on......I started taking glucosamine/Msm/??? to see if that would help....just startd so need time to see results. I have an appointment with my pain specialist.....thought I would talk to him, but don't want him jumping into it being the medication when there may some other reason......like I'm just getting older....Birthday was last week. At least with the medication, I am able to keep it at an ache.....can you imagine the pain I would be feeling if it wasn't for the medication I'm on. Just wondering if others have any similar feelings. The fingers in my hand will just cramp up & I can't hold onto what I have in my hands like when I'm doing dishes. I would look at the not being able to do something as a good thing except living alone....if I don't get the things done....they don't get done....no money to hire anything done, so it's all up to me.....my body doesn't even get going until after 2pm & a hot shower. Debbie

I suffered chronic migraine for more than 18 years as well as chronic pain due to injuries for the past 21 years, both started at the same time after I was attacked and suffered from very bad whiplash and dislocated jaw.
With the migraine I found drinking more water per day as much as 2 litres a day and getting off the strong pain meds about 6 years ago, stopped the rebound pain that was going on. About 4 years ago I discovered the ortho pillows that have a memory. Has done wonders for my neck and now wake with just a mild headache in the morning, instead of a full blown migraine. By drinking more water I of course went more to the loo and the body plushed the toxins, as well as the acid (can't think of the name) that is deposited into the joints which make everything stiff and sore. You could also try Celery & Juniper duretic tabs found at supermarkets or health store. I found these also helped but I stopped taking them when there might have been a problem with the Celery & my thyroid meds. Now that I don't take strong pain meds, my current doctor has trouble believing that I do suffer from chronic pain, but after 21 years of suffering I have learnt to live within my boundaries. Hot showers in the morning, wheat heat bags, mild pain meds (currently trying Panadol Osteo) Tiger Balm and pillows under my knees all help ![]() |
