Its something new and right now I'm not sure what to make of it or have any idea what is causing it.
When I woke up I had a headache, but a different one than I've had before. It was just below my crown and came down behind my ears--I had it all day even through all the ibuprofen. About 5 hours ago, the sides of my face hairline-pupil line/middle of my cheek was hot...but not like it usually is from rheumatoid arthritis, it wasn't centered in the jaw joint, its in the soft tissues. About an hour after that started it started being tender to the touch, the pillow, the sheet, my hair--everything hurt it. Then about an hour or a little over that later, it started burning and prickling, which went from superficial to deep. Its not prickling anymore, but still hot and anything touching it hurts. My jaw has been popping alot the past few months (the RA). And almost a week ago I got small mouth sores (non ulcerated) I'm kind of assuming its from the methotrexate, since I've gotten ulcerated mouth sores from it before. I still have them, they are on my tongue. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar? If its not better soon I will make an appointment with my GP. Its just odd, I don't know what to make of it ![]() |

Hi BP,
The mouth sores could be from your medication. I get them to from my chemo. Or an allergic reaction to a medication. The headaches could be side affects, or neuralgia type pains or something similar, or also an allergic reaction. It would benefit to check out with your Dr. if these are side effects from your meds or if you need to see a neurologist to check out the cause of the headache and the type. It is a wise visit to make with your Dr. I feel you might be able to learn to prevent these from occuring again, like if it's a certain med, it might need to be changed or the strength adjusted, or a particular food causing it to come on, or something that needs attention in a different direction perhaps. Hope things work out fine for you. Peace and Well-Being, Night xoxo |

Just a thought. Do you think it could be "TMJ" occurs when your jaw goes out of wack. Also, another thought, do you think it could be a really bad case of sinutis(sp)?
Wish I could do something to take it away ![]() I hope it gets better soon AND talk to your GP and they will have ideas. Best of luck, ThaCrew ![]()

Thanks for the reply, ThaCrew
![]() I have no clue if it could be TMJ. It isn't sinus problems, I'm pretty sure. I've never had problems with sinuses or allergies or anything. And it hurt alot different than when I have a cold/sinus congestion. Not that I can say it isn't, for sure, but I don't really think it is. I was looking around online and found that a common cause of facial pain is problems with teeth...which I had no idea of before I read it. My teeth are in bad shape and am on the tribal health waiting list for an appointment...next month at the earliest (6 months from when I got on the list) to October (9 months) is the general waiting list time. There was over a page of people ahead of me, when I got put on in mid-January. ![]() And I have a lovely new thing to bring up Friday. My left forefinger popped out of place completely last Thursday late afternoon, as I was washing my hands. Then popped out like 4 more times as soon as I got it back into place and moved it even slightly. Then about 30 hours later I went to open a door and it popped back out again. I don't know what that is either, but I doubt its good. LOL And yes, it was completely out of place. Just because some people IRL didn't believe when I said it...until they saw it for themselves. ![]() Anyway, yes, I went off on quite a tangent...just the first place I've written anything about it. -shrug- But I desist. -cough- ![]() |

I suffer from both of them and I have a mouth guard that my dentist made for me to wear at night to help with my TMJ... and believe me wearing the mouth guard makes a big difference in how I feel in the morning. P.S. Wal-mart carries mouth guards if you cannot get to the dentist at the moment. |

A mouth guard works to stop a person from biting down and clenching their jaw and grinding their teeth - that which puts stress on their facial muscles and joints... this night time routine often causes day time headaches and popping sounds with pain when you talk or eat.

I agree with the TMJ and sinus infection. My face hurts just like that when I get one which is often. You have to have an antibiotic for the kind that I have. So please see your doctor. I wouldn't take my assumptions as a professional answer.
![]() ![]() You don't need any new pain to go along with what you already suffer with. ( I hate ending with a preposition!) I hope you get some help and feel better soon. sweetyjss ![]() |
