It’s Memorial Day Weekend. A day for remembrance.

I’d like to remember someone here~ Forgive me for not sharing her name. I hurts but i’m too connected. I just want to show respect for our past.

My friend and I thought we joined the military on the “Buddy” system but learned in AIT we didn’t sign a contract. We should have had a clue when we ended up in different platoons, during basic, but we figured we were lucky to get in the same company. It came up, once, when she shared something from her care package but it didn’t seem important. Apparently we could have gone through basic together. I wish we did!

They say she died in peace time. She is listed as a Non hostile death. I have a real hard time wrapping my head around the logic. I understand as far as our country is concerned it’s true but it was malicious. Non Hostile is a serious understatement.

It’s hard to Honor with atrocity but I’m trying. She died while serving our country but it’s hard to respect. I try to find respect from those that have died while serving in combat. It just isn’t as personal to me. I don’t believe a Combat situation would be any easier. Maybe it’s harder? Thankfully I don’t know that pain but for those that do~ My heart is with you. Hopefully the good memories will overwhelm the sadness. I wish you the best!

Parley, I honor and commemorate your friend, her service and giving her life, and I respect your remembrance of her.

It is not easy for me to remember those that have left us. It is sad, but well worth the pain.
