Hi. I'm new here too. My wife (recently returned from Iraq) needs to talk to other combat vets. I'm hoping there's some kind of 24/7 hotline because she's wary about doing it online. She's in a bad way, and I'm just now learning how to help her, but I know that right now she needs to talk to someone who has been through it. Is there such a hotline?

you can call your local VA facility and they should be able to direct you to some help. I am really sorry you are going thru this. I know how it feels to try to support someone that has been in combat. here is a secure place too but not real active at the moment.

I can't understand combat PTSD, but I can understand PTSD, if there is anything I can do to help you support your wife, know that I am listening

Sorry this is happening....

While looking for my own reasons(trying to find a online chat support), I found this.. Theres a live chat, and a phone number to call. You can pretty much call for any reason, even if it's just to talk from what i understand. (aka the hotline isn't just there for those who are suicidal).

ps. it's a 24/7 hotline, and there are links on the right side of the page for their 24/7 chat rooms.

understand your wife's feelings and ptsd. i'd suggest the VA too. i hope she improves her own situation plus finds helping others is beneficial too.
my son did 5 tours in iraq. he suffers from ptsd too.

Don't wait years and years before going to VA ... I was scared to death of visiting the intake shrink, but she was way understanding. I went to another who evaluated me for VA disability rating. It was about as scary as the first. I don't know the results of the rating board yet.

In a few days i'll go for the first meeting with T to see how this is going to be treated. This is scary too, but I'm hoping for some relief from the ptsd as a result and everyone else tells me that it has been vry helpful.

A friend of mine just back from the wars was evaluated and rated and comes out of it with 5 grand a month. I don't know how they reached that number for disability pay, but it seems to be the case.

I clicked through on the link Lexi232 gives us ... chatted with a guy who was very non threatening and not pushy with questions. I'll probably go back there.
