The Addiction and Substance Abuse section in Resources is not displaying .
It just comes up with the Psych Central banner plus an advertisement .
And more ads down the bottom plus the usual -

Is there any reason for this ?
Like 'under construction or something ?
Or is it an error that should be fixed ?
Or is it just my computer ?

Try going to your profile and look under Settings and Options then "Edit Options". At the bottom of the list is where you can select forums/subforms to exclude from view. Could it be possible that those forums you cannot see now have been selected to not be viewed?

Thank you , but I just reset the exclusions and it still does not show .

It is probably a glitch .

There's definitely something wrong with that page. I get some navigation/menu bars at the top, a banner ad not far below, a long, long middle section completely blank except for a blue line down the right edge, then some Google ads at the left starting about 5/6 of the way down.

When I "View page source" (from Firefox), I do see the HTML source code for some promising-sounding text like this:
Quote:
Many people grappling with addictive behavior are not aware that, as opposed to just one, there are many potentially effective routes to change.
When I use the Firefox "Find" function to locate a string like "grappling", though, it acts like it's actually found something. It takes me to somewhere around 1/5 of the way down the page where it's completely blank with no "found" item highlighted in green as I'd expect.

Clicking on "Select All" causes something near the top of the page to be highlighted (selected) and something near the bottom, but there's still nothing visible in the middle. When I copy what I've "highlighted", though, and paste it into Windows Notepad, I do get a whole bunch of text -- including the "grappling" quote.

Something, maybe a bad "style," is causing the text on that page to "display", not even white-on-white, but invisibly. I don't feel like digging through the whole Page Source looking for a possible cause, especially 'cause I couldn't fix it even if I were to find it; I hope there are techies available here to take care of that.

--------------------------------
I will neither confirm nor deny (unless I do) that any page I happen to read here is related to any issues of my own.
Thanks for this!

Edited to add: I've just visited those pages and they are all coming up fine for me. I'm using mozilla firefox and having no issues. *scratching my head*

It isn't a forum that is doing this .

It is in the resources part of the Psych Central website .

Firefox 2.0.0.20 (in Windows 98SE): the results I described earlier.

Internet Explorer 5 (which I don't use much): results mostly similar, with some interesting differences! Most of the page is blank, as before. The status bar briefly says something like "Done, with errors," then switches to plain "Done". The Google ads and stuff at the bottom are not at the left as before, but a bit right of center. Most interesting of all, there are now some ads and stuff at the far right that are being cut off, even with the window maximized.

On a hunch, I tried it again with Firefox but this time, when the page was "Done", I went to Print Preview and set the magnification to 30% (the smallest available). The page is there, I can see some of the actual text -- but it starts so far to the right that most of it is still beyond the edge of the screen, even at 30% -- and the scroll bar won't take me anywhere near it.

It's some weird kind of formatting problem that has my Firefox (and IE) confused. You wouldn't be using, oh, Firefox 3, would you?

(Pejae, I used your link this time. It's the same page. Thanks.)

Hug received and appreciated. Thanks, sabby.
