Hi,
I just joined and posted a thread for the first time. It took a few hours for it to post (as I'm new) but next to the title there is a little symbol and when I mouse over it - "trig" appears - I guess that means trigger. How do you determine if something is a trigger? What exactly does it mean as I would imagine many of the postings could potentially trigger empathic emotions. Thanks for reading. Look forward to your reply. (sorry if its a stupid question too) |

Hi Gabla. WELCOME!!!
![]() The trig icon is used whenever something in the post might be of a triggering nature. Now obviously, we cannot begin to know EVERYTHING that might trigger another. But the basics are things like self harm, suicidal thoughts, violence, drug addiction, abuse details.. things that might be graphic for some people to hear and may trigger them into an anxiety attack or just a bad place. My best advice is to just use common sense - in most cases if you do this, you will know when to use the trig icon. Remember, everything has the potential to trigger SOMEONE.. so its best to always use it in the instance of graphic information. You can ALWAYS pm us mods and ask us if you are not sure. And, if it is without a trig icon and someone says something or we notice it, then we just can add it in. A couple of posts in and Im sure you wil have the swing of things. WELCOME again. ![]() |
