Can you help me on this:
Going wireless with a router Ok folks... hehehe I've been working on this issue on and off all year. Of course, I've had a few interruptions but... I'm closest to solutions than I have been I think. I have a new all-in-one printer/fax/scanner/copier that is wireless (or USB.) It was sold as not needing a router, but that was false if you want reliable connections. (I complained and they agreed to take it back but I'm stubborn and wanted the thing to work! lol It is a good machine and a bargain price.) So.. I dug out my old G router, and my older notebook that runs XP. The "new" all in one is a "g" also. My newer notebook runs vista (that was another issue with the all in one without a router) and is capable of all...including N. I use a modem for DSL internet service. The printer people set up an ad hoc network because I hadn't had the router connected. (I wanted it to work wirelessly like it was sold lol) I had my own network set up from before, going wireless with the G router and the XP notebook only. I've hooked the DSL modem to the wall power and phone and ethernet cable to the router. I hooked the phone also to the all-in-one (fax.) I did find the settings in the set up for what all is connected to the same phone line... btw. ![]() Now, I ca't find the belkin router's install disk, but the program was on the XP. I took the settings from that on a flash drive and transferred them to the Vista. I can connect to the router through the network with the Vista notebook, but it's limited connection meaning NO internet. It seems to me I had to have all devices hardwired at the begining to set them up, and then could go wireless. Now I'm not sure how to do that...but it will be my next project. (I at least have them all in my home "office" now. lol) The all-in-one keeps asking for manual or pin set up for the router. The router does NOT have any button to push, nor place to enter numbers. ![]() I even connected the XP to the router via ethernet cable, just to see if the two computers would talk to each other...but my Vista found nothing else on the network! ![]() I'm thinking of wiping all network info off everything and begining again. I also want to find the "belkin 54" router "program?" on the XP and copy it to the Vista... any ideas on how to find it? (Not in regular listings.) Hopefully some of you who are soooooo technical can help me, and my words here aren't in vain. Right now I'm just hardwired to the DSL modem, like old times. ![]() I can call the all-in-one support line again...and they could probably help me with the router set up...but IDK about internet and router and 2 wireless notebooks you know? And I want to figure this out without them! (I know, is that rational?) I want the sense of accomplishment... however yes, just getting it done right will produce that, no matter how it occurs. ![]() Thanks for reading!

Wow, that's a doozie. I won't lie, it's mostly Greek to me. But we do use a Belkin N Plus Wireless Router, and my printer (also an all-in-one) is connected to it (took some figuring out), thanks to my boyfriend.
I can't promise anything, but if you don't mind my copying your post and forwarding it to my boyfriend, I can ask him if he's got any solutions. He's a software engineer, so his knowledge of hardware is limited, but he knows more than me (not that that's saying much, LOL!). I'll try to get back to you tomorrow, okay? And I get not wanting to call tech support. Half the time, they tell you to try stuff you've already tried about 20 times already. Oh, and the manual or pin number is probably like the one I had to enter, containing around 16 characters or so. That probably doesn't help, but if you know of some password pertaining to your router like that, that might be it. I had to type it into the printer itself.
