I started a social group about termination of therapy but it's evolved into a more general type of group. Can I change the name and description, or do I have to disband that group and start a new one? Thank you.

I'm sorry no one has replied to you. I'm not a mod...
but I couldn't find any way to change a social group name. The group will be removed if it goes 30 days (I think?) without an entry. So you could post to the group the NEW group name, and beg them not to post there at the old one again?

I don't think so. Of the five groups I'm in, three have already gone longer than that since the last reply. When I looked in the Social Groups list, I found two with the last post in 2008 and six (of various ages) with no posts at all.

Rainbow, is it that big a deal to have the conversation drift out from under the group name and stated purpose? I've seen it happen before.

If you brought someone else there to talk about termination of therapy, would the other members be willing to accommodate that -- or would they complain that you were getting in the way of their off-topic conversation and should go start your own group?
Thanks for this!

Rainbow, I am sure there is a way to change the name of the group, but probably it must be done by someone with Administrative privileges. I have been an admin or mod at several boards before, and "behind the scenes", an Admin can make most any change.

I suggest you send a PM directly to an Admin or to a Moderator. Here is a page that lists all the moderators and administrators on this site:

There is no time limit on social groups; they are not deleted due to inactivity.

You need to PM an administrator or myself to change the name of a social group.

That post was talking about *forums* for social groups, not the social group itself.

Forums for social groups are optional for social groups with 25 or more members.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
