A few days ago I started a new thread in the Depression Forum called "Just a Down Thread." It had nothing to do with suicide. It had to do entirely with partial, temporary relief from painful feelings. Like aspirin. And yet somebody took it on themselves to stick a "gentle reminder - no suicide talk/whatever" lable on the top of it. I haven't the slightest idea why anyone would push the panic button on my posts. Anyone who would has to be a very loose cannon. I specifically was talking about "12-24-36 hour relief." Something better than sleep. I said, specifically, that I thought that some (at least) people who COMMITTED SUICIDE might very well have wanted only a temporary relief of their feelings. Such as 12-24-36 hour relief. So what's wrong with that? Don't delete this post! Answer it! By post or by PM!

(Please note I am NOT a moderator.)

I have looked at your post, there is no 'gentle reminder/ suicide' label on your post! And usually a moderator would put a reason for editing your post if they had edited it and they usually let you know via PM too!

Breathe!

Yg.... the gentle reminder you speak of is general to the whole depression forum. It is not specific to any one post. It has always been there. You must not have noticed it there before.

Like Peg says if the mods had taken action specific to your post it would have been in the form of an edit and the reason would be noted in your thread. From what I have observed over time if someone says something in a post that a mod thinks could trigger sensitivities they may edit the text or they may just add a trigger icon beside the subject line. Even that will be explained in the edit notes.

Hope that helps to settle your worries. I will go read your other post now. Take care.

Ah yes! The gentle reminder thing comes up the first time you log on and go in the depression forum! Not specifically aimed at you.

Keep breathing!

Thanks for that peg. I thought I was seeing things for a minute cuz when I went back to the depression forum a second time to read the thread the gentle reminder wasn't there. It only shows for our first visit. Got it now.

So I am not going crazy after all. phew!!
Thanks for this!

Man, I would have gotten concerned about that kind of thing too, just because sometimes it's really difficult to post for help, or even just a statement that ya hope someone out there can relate too. One time, I posted a dating ad on craigslist, and it was super innocent, but it kept getting "ghosted" which means there was something "threatening" or whatever on there. For the life of me I couldn't understand it (still don't) especially in comparison with the other types of posts. I just hated the feeling, couldn't understand why someone would find something wrong with it-so I'm glad you reported it anyway, cuz letting that stuff go just leaves an injured character. Hope you are able to get support on your post,
take care

I think we've all done that, misread a post or subject line. Especially when we aren't at full functioning.

I'm confused a bit. Are you talking about this statement at the top of the forum:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
*Just a gentle reminder... No suicidal posts, please. Thank you.*
-------------------------------------------------------------------
--this statement appears there for everyone who posts in that forum. I answered that thread and I didn't perceive your post as inappropriate at all - I didn't feel you were suicidal at all...just feeling crappy and you thought it was temporary. Did you get a PM from someone?

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
