The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is based in Toronto, and is the largest psychiatric and addictions facility in Canada. At least 50% of Canada's psychiatrists do part or all of their training there. It's also my psych hospital, and where I volunteer on their telephone support line. They have a facebook page, and I'm a fan, so I get all of their updates. One of the services they provide to facebook subscribers is mental health news sourced from other sources (papers, TV stations, journals etc.) as well as CAMH news itself. I've noticed that they frequently have links to psychcentral postings or blogs, always fully credited. I figure I see at least one link from psychcentral a day. Just thought I'd share, how far reaching the impact of PC is.

Awesome news... but also makes us feel a bit vulnerable as posters, I guess

I got led here from the Mayo clinic site. When I first found it I thought thank god maybe there would be some help for me. But there was no one there to actually give you any advice and those that wrote on it were in the same posistion as me. Depressed wanting to die but we had no answers neither is there any answers here the difference is that on this site more people are here and even if they cant help you can at least read how they deal with stuff. I believe we are being studied. I go read the mayo site still sometimes but as with this site there is no answer to depression its never ending. It scares me I had not expected to still be feeling so awful at this stage in my life. I dont remember good days now just years and years of feeling awful. Its getting worse and I am finding it harder to cope. Depression seems to be effecting more and more people and whats frightening to me is that there does not seem to be a cure we manage as best we can suffering mentally. I dread each day I wake up I try to stay in the now and say things to keep going but most times I just want to fall asleep and not wake up.

That's great that this place is getting recognized but I dunno how I feel about having posts linked up to facebook without my knowledge.. Maybe they should ask permission first? ^^;

Just to clarify - no they're not researching us, and no they're not linking to posts. Everything they linked to comes from the non-community part of the site. Blogs, newslinks, summaries of studies that sort of thing.

Thanks for the kind words and recognition of all the great effort we put into publishing daily news and blog entries. As I understood your post, you were referencing the larger Psych Central website, not the community.
We do not "link up" individual posts or member pages anywhere online, whether it be Facebook or twitter or someplace else. We do spend a great deal of effort producing news articles, blog entries and library articles every week here on Psych Central -- dozens of them actually! I encourage members to check them out. ![]() DocJohn
