If I find an image somewhere on the internet,
click on the right side of my mouse,
click on copy
come to PC
go onto a thread
and click on the right side of my mouse again
click on paste
I see my picture
then when I submit my post
I just get an x

how do I get the picture?

roses

P.S. Once I sent a pm and the photo transfer worked but another time I sent a pm and I got an x.

The names of these options may vary from browser to browser but instead of the Copy image option, what you want is Copy image location (or its equivalent in your browser). What you'll have on your clipboard will be not a copy of the actual image but its URL.

Instead of doing that, put your cursor at the place in your post where you want the image to appear. Click on the how do I post an image in a converation thread icon; a dialog box will appear. Paste the URL from your clipboard into the box and click [OK]. When you preview your post, you should see the image.

what brower?!

an example of how much I know about computers...
when I was in high school, I took a computer course...
at this time, there was not a single computer in the school,
not even the secretaries had computers...
in this class, we read a chapter, answered questions, then wrote a test.
we did one programme at the beginning of the year
it was put on punch card and mailed away
at the end of the year, the results came back
and they all said,'syntax error'

'Browse' for me means I go into a store and I browse before I choose something I want to buy

trying to link this idea to the computer but can't

Hi foolzero, thank you so much for answering.
I am having a problem as my operating system is not in English. When I click on the right side of my mouse' I do not have English and cannot find the equivalent of 'copy image location'.

I have, in bold script:

1) save image under,
2) send image by e-mail,
3) print image,
4) go to my images... this a file saved on my hard drive of photos that my boyfriend loaded
5) choose image as background (maybe desktop)
6) copy
7) add to favourites
8) googlesidewiki
9) properties

what do you suggest?

HI! try clicking on PROPERTIES and copying the address of the image... then when you come to PC page, click on the square yellow icon above with the mountain and moon in it, and paste the address there... submit. See if the works for you. how do I post an image in a converation thread

OK, here's the problem. When you click on that how do I post an image in a converation thread icon and the dialog opens, it already says
http://
and for me (using Firefox) that's highlighted. I think whoever wrote the software was reminding you that you should start your URL with "http://", not "www" or "forums.psychcentral..."

If I leave that part highlighted and paste over it, the initial "http://" disappears and is completely replaced by the URL I'm posting. You seem to have left the first "http://" in place, though, and added yours after it to make:
http://http://forums.psychcentral.com/image.php?u=3495&dateline=1305302837
When I take out the extra characters I get:

how do I post an image in a converation thread
Thanks for this!

I am so amazed..... did it
thank you ALL so much
especially J.D. and Foolzero

You guys are so amazing
J.D. for sending me to properties
and Foolzero for realizing that I had http twice
I so appreciate you taking the time to break down the process and figure out where I am going wrong
It means so much to me to be a little less computer challenged!

Thanks for this!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
