Once a member opens a chat room and then leaves, there is no one to "control" the room any longer. Is there any way for the room host to "hand over the reigns" so to speak to another member so that the integrity of the room remains in tact?
Personally speaking, I get many members who come in to my rooms because they know it's safe in my rooms. But there have been times when I've had to leave my room, and because I'm not there, other members do/say things that have been triggering to others, so much so, that I had two members tell me they wanted to leave PC because of what went on in my room when I left. I was lucky enough to convince them to stay and that not all PC members are ill-intended. Please give serious consideration to this request. I think it would be a very beneficial attribute to have here at PC. Thanks!

You make a good point
![]() But why would you leave a room if you made it? I know something in chat at time do get triggering, but you gotta remember this is a support forum, and their will be people like that right? As much as I do agree with this, shouln't the chat host ask someone else to open a room, so while they are away, someone else would have control over chat? I know a site that has the same system but when the chat host leaves the room cloths and everyone get's kicked to the lobby, from their someone else would have to open a room, if It was more than like 10 people the chat wouldn't cloths I think, or was it 5, something a long that, maybe this site should consider this as well!! So once again Toothless, you make a fair point -Hugs- always Angel Xx |

There are times when the Originating Chat Host needs to leave, sometimes during the hosted chat, sometimes after it's over but others are still chatting on topic with interest. It would be nice to be able to transfer it over, but
![]() TL, the way around this I guess is to ask whomever it is that is taking over, to open a new chat room before the host leaves, and have everyone transfer then. ![]() We can dream though, eh? ![]()

A room can stay open as long as a member is in it, even if it's not the original host. I've seen rooms stay open for hours because people come and go.

You might consider having the user who you wish to control your room simply make a new room that everyone can move to. You can announce as you leave that you are closing your current room and everyone should move to the new one.

I dont know if you all have the same set up in chat rooms here, where who ever is managing that chat room is able to boot out those who are causing trouble or not staying on topic or what ever other reasons. but if those who open the chat rooms have "booting out" capabilities, its an idea you can throw around your chat rooms and possibly do what my instructor did - give a five minute warning chat has ended for that room and then when the 5 minutes are up start "booting out" those who are like that "aunt that comes and doesnt know when to leave." ![]() |

You can't transfer your control over a member-created room. Have another member create a similarly-named room, that is the only way to do it right now, sorry.
