When you log in, do you check the "remember me" box? I do this and stay logged in every time I come on.

Also check that "cookies" are enabled in your browser.

I scan my system with Spybot S&D every so often. I'm already not accepting cookies from the sites it's reported in the past so it doesn't find anything problematic for months at a time. When it does find something and clean it up, though, I find that as a side effect my "Remember me" at PC has been cancelled and I've been logged out.
Thanks for this!

yes, yes, and yes, i have checked the box, Remember Me, and i have exempted PC from being deleted in the cookie jar, and that still doesn't explain why it says my account doesn't exist.... ??

thanks for the thoughts, tho,,, Gus

I think this happened to me on my little phone when my main storage got too full, so I deleted some giant files and it could find me again. something musta got overwritten, or somebody sent me a giant attachment, I dunno.
Thanks for this!

No, I think I got it this time! I came to the library, and the computer does not know me at all here, right? so it wants me to re-register. But instead of clicking on the join in sign up, i clicked on the chat, logged in, but then proceeded to the main index instead of chatting. Since I am at the library, I did not check the remember me box. So did something happen a month ago that your computer "forgot" you? or maybe something happened to the site. hope this helps.
Thanks for this!

PC would find you had no cookies on that computer so it would welcome you as a guest and invite you either to register (if you didn't have an account) or to log in (if you did).

I gather you logged in at some point but didn't check the "Remember me" box. In that case, your cookies would have been cleared from that particular computer as soon as you logged out (or went for an hour or so without any forum activity). What happened on the next computer would depend on what PC cookies, if any, you had there.
Thanks for this!

Riiiight - I guess the issue is, and what I'm telling Gus, and maybe Tech Support?, is that once you've tossed your cookies, the only or best way back in is thru chat. The join up sign in is defective, that's what he is complaining about, and I experienced it too.

I was a computer programmer for 30 years, I ain't just whistlin' Dixie.

Because the join up signin is one box, it is only letting you join uo, even if you already have an account, that is the problem. But if you go to chat, you CAN just log in, it will reset your cookies, then you can proceed to the index and to the forums, you don't have to enter chat.

That's what worked for me, anyway. We don't check remember me at the public library computers.

hooe this helps!
Thanks for this!

For me, on the rare occasions when I'm not cookied in, the login boxes (username, password and "Remember me") appear above and to the right of the "welcome, please register or log in" message. I seem to remember that they keep showing up on every page as long as I'm still a "guest" but I haven't looked recently. [Edited to add: the login boxes do show up at the top right of every page when I'm not logged in -- about where the "Welcome, FooZe" shows up when I am.]

I've never tried logging into the forums by way of chat, mainly because I so seldom chat. If it gets you in, it's hard to argue with success.

Could you change your password, so it would create a new log file for you in PC, you obviously can log in "you can post" so it should be possible to do.

You were obviously logged in when you posted the above, or you couldn't have posted any of it.

What, exactly, does the message say? Could you copy and paste it? For example, in the area where I picture it from your description, mine says:
Welcome, FooZe.
You last visited: Today at **:** AM
Private Messages: Unread 0, Total ****.
My Mood: Change Mood
If we're talking about the same place, how much of that shows up for you and where is it different?

If we're not talking about the same place, what are the title, URL, etc., of the page where you see that and what exactly does your message say?

Gus, were you by any chance talking about a different message on this page? It's the one I get (briefly) right after I log in:
Redirecting...

Thank you for logging in, FooZe

I wondered if you might possibly be typing your username with the wrong combination of uppercase and lowercase, but no. I just tried logging in as "fooze" and the system welcomed me as "FooZe".

Any chance you might have a stray cookie on your computer with a variant spelling or something? Next time you're logged in, try logging out (which is supposed to clear your cookies), then see if the problem comes up again when you log back in.

I suppose you could even try clearing all your browser cookies just to make sure that wasn't it.
