I keep seeing people say we can use the ignore button to avoid reading posts by people who might trigger us - but I sure can't find it! Does it really exist?

Yes its under My Profile and its called Edit Ignore List - you type in the members name ...this is under Settings and Options. I've only used it once and don't really find it practical for me but its probably good for others. The post will be blocked but you have the option of clicking to see if you want and since I'm a curious person I do that ...which is why its not good for me lol. You can also block whole forums for those who are triggered by those forums...for example the abuse forum. Hope this helps.

yes there is. when you are reading a post look to the left. click on that persons name. a small drop box will appear. then click on "view public profile". that will bring you to that posters profile.

on their profile page is the words in very small print "user lists" click on that. a drop box will appear saying "add to ignore list" click that and that person is now on ignore so you wont see any of their posts.

I like doing it this way better than the way that requires a member to type in the name of who they are trying to ignore. with so many members with names, numbers, dashes, stars and what have you in their names I can never type in the name corectly by placing the person on ignore by going to my own profile. I find it so much easier just to go to their profile right then when I find someone or a post that is triggering me.

As with most features on this site, there's more than one way to access your Ignore List. One is through "Your Control Panel"; as lynn P. said, you can click on the "My Profile" link to get to it.

Is there really an Ignore Button?

You can also go to the profile of the member whose posts and messages you want to ignore. Under their username (and picture, if any) is a brown menu bar with buttons marked "Send Message" and "User Lists". If you click on the "User Lists" button you'll get a pulldown menu that includes "Add to Ignore List".

Don't be afraid to try it out. It asks you for confirmation, and is just as easily undone.

The other member doesn't get notified that you're ignoring them except when they try to reply to a thread that you've started.

This feature is just meant to help you with your self-care when there are particular members you find triggering.

Thanks to all who responded. It isn't a feature I want to use often, but as FooZe mentioned - it can be useful at certain times for our own self-care.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
