How does one post a message with no text in it -- other than the "sig" at the end?

Here is one example:

I see one line on that post. Maybe a person can go back and erase the comment. I know if its a 1st post, a member needs to have minimum of text, even if its a line of commas.

When I first saw it, it had no text above the separator line. Now it has one line. I think I have seen a few posts similar in the last days; I linked to that one because it was one I knew about today.

I still do not know how one posts such a thing. If I have too few characters the system will not let me post.

Pachyderm is correct. There was no text until I edited the post. Unfortunately, I do not recall what I had originally typed, if in fact I typed anything.
Thanks for this!

There's an image link in that post that's not showing up. Links may count toward the required minimum number of characters, though quotes apparently don't.

Just as a side note here, any attempt made by any member to circumvent the site and posts is doing so against guidelines.

I realize what you did Perna was to prove a point, and thanks for doing that.

Thanks for this!

I wasn't trying to prove a point, was just curious and like trying to yank Pachy's chain That and having been a former software beta tester, I'm good at finding features that might want to be changed (do you like that euphemism? :-)

I'm still confused how an empty post can happen. Can a person go back, edit and remove the text..then enter and voila an empty post? Maybe I'll try it here.

What I tried to do was post a cartoon. Apparently, the site I copied the cartoon from does not allow its property to be purloined.
Thanks for this!

I "cut" a piece of the default white post box background out and made it an image, uploaded it to my website, http://mysharingspaceonline.com and then posted it as an image here. Since it was the exact white on the white, it is "invisible" to viewers who use the PsychCentral default skin.

I think, usually, if one cannot copy an image from another site it at least gives he small red-x error box. Copying an image url can cost the person whose other site it is, extra money; every time someone here calls up the post or even the thread here that it is in, it is really at the other place and the other server "charges" the renter of that space for the view. That way sites that have a lot of views/members (like here, for example, which is partly why DocJohn owns instead of rents this site space) have to pay more rent since they get more use, which usually means they make more money for the renter, hence the renter is charged more too. One-price/"free" sites just make it so you can't copy from there to elsewhere.

I got used to seeing that at other sites and/or with earlier browsers. I don't remember seeing it recently, though. I don't know if my current browser (Firefox 2 through 9) doesn't show that marker any more, if the forum software avoids giving the browser any occasion to show it, or perhaps both.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
