Okay, basically I got a message saying that I was banned from the chat for using profanity . . . how long does this last for?
I was using profanity pretty casually in a private conversation with another user, so I don't think I should be banned indefinitely for it. |

In researching your membership, you are not in a chat ban at this time.
Were you trying to access the chat program or a particular chat room? |

Just the chat program. I was kicked for profanity by a chat bot i think.

That explains it then. When you are kicked from chat, there is a temporary ban on your account for awhile. It lifts on it's own and will let you back in later.
Glad it's sorted.....now you know what "not to do". ![]() |

why does it ban you for using profanity when there is a profanity filter? all it shows are dashes instead of the word, like this "-----".
How many "bad words" can a person say before getting kicked off chat? |

For any automatic kick done by the chat software, the ban is for 30 minutes.
In the case of the profanity filter, if you use a profanity more than 10 times, it will kick you out. You are warned prior to the kicking, however, giving you a chance to bring your behavior back into compliance with our community guidelines. The chat system cannot differentiate between private and public chat for these filters, so I'm sorry to say, it applies to private chats as well. DocJohn
