Hi!

I thought my email address was private, but I was horrified to learn that other members can see it.

How can I keep my email address private on PC?

Huh? Just checked mine & it's private, as in you can only send an email thru PC. You don't see my actual address.
Must have been one of the setup options when I opened acct.
PM a mod, they have helped me several times.
Good luck.

I believe it is a setting.
Go to "My Profile", then to
Settings & Options and click on Edit Options. Look for "Receive email from other members" and uncheck that box.
Thanks for this!

Yes... quoting this just to agree for the OP that this is correct. I get emails from other members but it comes through PC ... the sender's email addy is included in the mail forwarded from PC. At least it has been on all mine.
There is a mail:to link for the member's email addy in the email you receive.
You see their email addy but they don't see yours... unless you answer directly by using the mail:to link.

PC does not show your email addy to anyone. Your addy will only be visible if you email someone.
And as echoes points out, you can choose not to receive email from other members at all.

Just to confirm -- we do not show email addresses to other members, at any time or under any circumstance.

If you choose to use a link to Email another member through the forums (only some members have enabled this option), the member will see your email address. If you then choose to respond to that email via email as well, then you've exchanged email addresses.

Click here to change whether other members can email you or not:

Maybe I sent an email when I meant to send a private message.
That doesn't seem very likely but it's the only the explanation that fits the facts.

I did that once, and didn't realize it until the person responded and asked how I knew their email address! I thought I had sent a PM.
Thanks for this!
