I now have IE, Mozilla and Netscape installed. For the most part, IE is troublesome. Mozilla wouldn't work just now so Netscape is what I am using at the moment. (And I still can't get into chat from either one).

Seems so uneccessary.

Do YOU not have (or ever had) AOL or MSN? - I would start there first..... and well IE is not so bad, for that is what I am having to use on my son’s comp since my comp is still having problems.

I just downloaded the opera. It's pretty cool, but I'm comparing it to the AOL browswer. The AOL broswer is way cool with all kinds of cool functions, but it wears my computer out.

i'm liking this i think. thank you!

heck no worries.

Its also supposedly the *safest* when it comes to spyware, supposedly because its newer and such.

I love the way it opens everything in tabs, so that you dont have eighteen million windows open, and I also find that theres alot more space it seems for the webpages and it doesnt seem to be as "junked up"

also, this is REALLY COOL!

Trash

Notice the little trash can in the top right corner? It's brilliant. If you mistakenly close a Web page, you can re-open it from the Trash can. Try it by closing the tab you're reading right now (click the red X). Go to the Trash can and re-open it!

now I need that because I do that all the time!

My husband loves opera, and he does not have the problems I have with internet explorer and foxfire.

I had problems downloading it and eventually had to cancel the download. I was downloading from Netscape and now Netscape won't work. I managed to get IE going again.
I'll try to download it again later.

Thanks Mystry ... I did actually mean to say browser but being a bit "challenged" in pc technology ... ISP was the term that first came to mind. But I do mean browser.

Thanks for the links - I will check them all out - if my pc lets me!

Well, my pc was particularly moody earlier. Just about everything I was doing would end in a non-responsive program. I quickly backed up my office work - just in case

I have gone through all the links. I have done a number of little things here and there and I reckon my pc is quite clean. Performance is still shocking, sad considering I have so much free space.

I downloaded the RegSeeker (couldn't find it so downloaded again 3 ISP's installed ) but I don't know what to clean ....

I did not have automatic windows update turned on (because it saying it could not install etc so just turned it off), anyway I have it back on now and it installed some updates.

I particularly like the hardware secrets site. Thanks again for posting those Mystry.

I am very far from knowing what I am actually doing, but here and there a few little things are starting to make a tiny bit of sense.

Thanks to everyone for bearing with me.

Sabrina,

How are your COOKIES set up and do you have a filter blocker or more than one firewall installed on your computer?

Hi Rhapsody

I delete my cookies on an almost daily basis.

The only firewall that I am aware of is windows firewall. I have disabled it to try and get into chat with no luck - so now it is enabled again. I don't know if the AVG virus software has a firewall or not.

No the AVG should be fine, I use to have it - its for VIRUSES mainly....... but check and make sure this site is not blocked anywhere on AVG or your IE security.

It is great that you delete all your cookies on a daily basis, but I mean how do you have your COOKIES set up to handle the sites you view? - thru your IE Internet Options.

LoVe,
Rhapsody -

P.S.
Check this out (its FREE) - (and I have it).

BTW - having to many ISP’s on your computer can and will defunk them..... for ISP servers / browsers DO NOT play well together (and) they can control your IE Browser with out you knowing it.

What version of IE do you have? - maybe it needs to be updated, the highest version is 6.0 right now with there being a beta for a 7.0 - I think you need Windows XP or higher for the beta.

I have never managed or set-up my cookies through options ... just left them alone.

I'll check out the link now - thanks.

If and when using COOKIE WALL always delete anything that says:

HIT BOX - DOUBLE CLICK - VALUE CLICK - AD/ADS (attached to its name) - TRIBAL FUSION and FAST CLICK...... for all of these have Spy Ware that will watch were and what you do on your Computer.

*** Place them on your “ALWAYS DELETE” side when they pop up....... the left side.

Thanks!

As far as the browsers are concerned, I know I need to make a decision on what I am going to keep.

I have already uninstalled Netscape, mozilla is soon to follow.

My IE is version 6 and I have Windows XP Pro.

(for i just sent this to you in PM) - (then you posted)

********************************

If you have not already done so..................... YOU should delete the other programs before you install more - go to Start, Control Panel and then Add/Remove Programs to get rid of all files attached to the programs you are removing.

Godd Luck.......................
