Yesterday my Firefox browser updated after I turned my computer on, and this usually doesn't cause a problem with my add-ons and settings. However, today when I came online, my PC toolbar wasn't working properly. Instead of showing icons for mail, weather, etc it's just blank. When I tried going into the add-ons settings, I noticed all the check boxes for Facebook, email notifications, weather, etc are unchecked. I checked them and went to click on OK, but for some reason it doesn't do anything when clicked. Nothing happened and it didn't save my new settings. (see picture)

Can anyone tell me what's going on with my toolbar? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, didn't work. I really like the toolbar because it automatically alerts me of new email...help?

My Firefox updated this morning. Usually I barely notice, but this time it displayed a notice that it had had to disable some add-on or other because it wasn't compatible with the new version. Could you have run into some similar incompatibility issue?

Perhaps. I didn't see a notice like that but I was in a rush to get online last night so could have missed it. Can the software for the toolbar be updated to be compatible?

By the way, I hadn't heard of your toolbar before and I'm not finding any information about it. Could you link me to a description or something?

EDIT: problem solved! I downgraded to Firefox version 14 and set my options so that it can't update without asking me if I want to do so first. Everything is back to normal

I hate change.

Since last year, Firefox has been in a, "rapid release cycle", in that it performs updates every several weeks and in doing so, a new version of Firefox is released. Sometimes your settings will be changed or the updates will conflict with a program. I've had this happen to me in the past and I had to downgrade but it became a hassle when I had to either further downgrade or upgrade for a different program to function. In the end, I change between Firefox and Google Chrome.

I never knew PC had its own toolbar, it's pretty interesting. I get weary of using toolbars because many contain spyware and malware or slow down your computer. I've fixed my parents and friends computers, as well as am part of a forum that deals a lot with computers and malware; some toolbars are becoming more prevalent and they can be a headache to get rid of, even if you are tech savvy. I only download and use them if they're from a source I know and trust.
Thanks for this!

Yes, unfortunately with some software moving to these rapid release cycles, other software that's dependent upon it may take a little longer to be updated (like toolbars, add-ins, plugins, etc.).

Our toolbar's only purpose is to keep you informed about the stuff going on on Psych Central. We can certify it is free of any spyware, malware or adware.

Thanks for your continued support,
DocJohn
