I think Lisa Simpson was genius for making that popular... it fits my mood a lot of the time... can you please consider adding it to the list?
thanks.

I'm not the one responsible for dealing with such requests, but my younger son (he's actually 20), say "Meh" a lot. What is the translation? (Put nicely, please.) I gather it indicates frustration or unhappiness in some way! Thanks!

I don't know what it means to your son, but to me it means... um... hmm... best I can explain it is MEH... ambivalent and lost and confused and... sad maybe? Hopeless? but status-quot (sp? that doesn't look right to me) at the same time... It's hard to explain. It's a bit depressed and sad and useless... just kinda floating through the day trying to keep it from collapsing in on me.
I hope that helps. I've never really been asked to define it except once with my therapist, and even then I struggled for a definition that made sense.
Thanks for this!

I suppose meh means different things to different people the same as feeling ok differs from person to person.
when I say meh it means 'don't ask' either because I can't explain or because there is too much for me to explain and my brain can't put it in a way you will understand before you get bored!
I feel ok when things are on a level e.g. I am not over tired, able to get up, dressed and out before 3pm when my mind is not full of stuff fighting for my attention and I do not have reflux! I am in pain 24/7, can't sit up unsupported or walk and struggle to pick up a cup without spilling the contents, so to others I am not ok, but to me this is my 'normal life' so if ever these things were not there I would be far more than ok I'd be fantastic, ecstatic!

Yeah, he says this sound when he has just told me about some school frustration or other upsetting situation. Maybe I'll ask him next time to see what HE think it means.

BTW, it does sound like an interesting mood in a list.

I think I've always known what this word means but what I don't know is how it's pronounced! Lol. I've only ever seen it written. Anyone able to explain how to say the word?

Is it as in: me, like meeeee or: meh as in to rhyme with 'met'? Or something else completely

Thanks

Very helpful, thanks Beau. And Yellowted too, I get the sheep analogy, that makes sense. I just assumed it was pronounced meeeeeee, so I'm glad to know how to say it properly (save face if I ever use it around people who actually do know how to pronounce it .)

Thank you

Hmmm. Bart sounded like he was saying, "Muh." It looks like it ought to be pronounced like it is spelled---like the name "Meg," but without the "g" sound at the end. That's how my son pronounces it.

What are you head honchos thinking about adding it to the mood list? I guess I sort of got things off track. Sorry--but I am learning some things.

thanks for the help in describing how to say it. I would not have thought to look it up on youtube.
as for the icon... I dunno... A little Lisa Simpson with the face she makes when she says it... That's what I always tend to think of, but there may be come copywrite infringement... hmm...
Thanks for this!

I love that word. I use it often when I am feeling... meh.

To me it kind of means "not great. But oh well. Nothing I can do about it. And this too shall pass" all rolled up into one.

It is so descriptive in just three little letters

I didnt know it originated with the Simpsons! That is funny

True story: yesterday the girls and I got together to watch the game. Well, we were chatting, and talking and catching up, making DIY california rolls, and glancing at the game...one of the gals' bf texted her, trash texting (something less than flattering about the opposing team), and she didn't know how to respond...I told her just type "meh" and press "send".

Shortly, after that, he texted back 4 block symbols.

She had no idea what was going on!

I told her just text M E H (she hesitated because she was worried she was having a text "conversation" that would get her into hot water).

Not 5 seconds later, he texted, "I've lost complete interest in the game. I want to come over and see you right now" lol
