I got a message about tapatalk notifier on my browser. For those that don't know, it's an addon that will make it so you get pop ups on your desktop when you get a new pm. Sounded good to me. I added it.

This just in case others come across this problem. Apparently in Chrome, I don't know about other browsers I didn't test and I don't use them. Tapatalk notifier made it so I could not get into chat. idk why but the chatroom would come up with a blank window like it ws trying to load still but would be stopped. Reloading gave me an error saying "no data received" in the window. Well after going through my add ons and changes recently the only ones I knew of I added recently were the torch add on (a chrome based torrent browser) and tapatalk. i removed the torch addon and I still could not get into chat. So I then removed tapatalk. it worked right away after that.

So just a heads up if you come across this problem.

I tried tapatalk and didn't like it at all. Didn't even try chat at that time on it. I don't remember....what program do you need to download to get chat working? Maybe I can get it going on my tablet; I know I can't on my phone. In the PC settings, you can be emailed when you receive a PM and such and I get instant email notification on my phone so that works for me. It's a little bit of a pain to have to get back on PC to respond, but I like doing that better than tapatalk.

I thought tapatalk was for android devices so that you could chat. I was going to try it on my phone but not sure now.

Here are a couple of other places we've discussed Tapatalk in this forum: 1, 2.

Well this post was really about the tapatalk google chrome extension for computers. The problem with it is that it actually rendered the chat inaccessible.

Question though, is there a way to chat from an Android Phone?

Thanks for asking the question...I've been wanting to know that as well. I remember the first time I attempted to bring up chat, it said that a certain program was needed for it to run that my tablet did not have, but I didn't write it down and I have since forgotten what the program is. If I can find out what that program was, I may be able to download it and get chat running. Worth a shot at any rate.

I've had Tapatalk on iPhones, iPads, Galaxy S3 and the ASUS Transformer. There has never been a chat option I've ever seen. Notifications can be setup for new posts or pm's, but you cannot see visitor messages, unless you go to the browser.

I usually toggle between Chrome and Tapatalk, depending on what I'm doing.

I've never figured out how to chat on ios or android for PC.

Just speculating here, but we've known for some time that you can't chat over a satellite connection. Apparently that's because one of the ports that's needed for chat, the satellite providers are already using to communicate with their satellite. Now if Tapatalk ties up that port the same way the satellite providers do...
