I hope someone can help because I am really struggling here to the point of extreme frustration...............

I have for nearly 24 hours been trying to learn how to upload/copy and paste a photo from my computer to a message.

I have created a private album to try and help and now I can't find the album.

I look for manage attachment beneath the message box and I can't find that either

I have read, but maybe not properly understood the few threads relating to uploading,

I do not want to post a photo from a url.

Please can someone help,

Thank you

Right now there's only one part of that I can help you with:

First look for the [Go Advanced] button and click it. Then look again, farther down, for [Manage Attachments].

If the [Go Advanced] button isn't showing then [Manage Attachments] should be, and vice versa.

Thank you for coming back on this part (((FooZe))) I will try laters, but I seem to remember that was one of the frustrations because the option you mention in either basic or advanced settings did not seem to be available to me in private messaging.x

Aha! Sorry, I was talking only about posts. There's no way to use attachments with PMs.

I've sent lots of pictures in PMs but the picture has to be on a server, not just on my own hard drive, before I can link to it. One of the ways I've done it is by uploading the picture to an album. There are file size restrictions on album pictures. Last time I checked, if a picture exceeded the limit, the system would try to resize it for you but you might not like the result. I think it might also be possible to get mysterious error messages that don't sound like they have anything to do with the file size (but that go away after you resize your picture).

I think if you make your album "private", only you and your friends will be able to see pictures from it, even if you include the picture in a post. I remember something like that happening to me a few years ago but not the details, unfortunately.

Another way to include your own pictures in posts and PMs is to upload them to a photo sharing site, then link to them there.

Does that help at all?
Thanks for this!

(((((FooZe))))) It certainly does.................and a huge huge thank you. I thought I was losing it, and I'm really sorry to have vented my frustrations, but truth is,I was soooooooooooooooooooooo . I can rest easy now, knowing that is wasn't just me being stoooooooooopid.x Thanks a million.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

P.S I've had another go, not with uploading to a photo sharing site, but with trying to embed photo from Private album into private message.

Just need to clarify one thing here cos it ain't worked.

Is the fact my album is private part of the problem?

Thank you ((((FooZe))))

I suspect so but I'm not sure. That album seems to be private enough that I can't even tell it's there.

Let's try something. Here's a pic from my private album, "Technical". I can see it. Can you?

Hi Sugarpuff,

I am not computer-savvy at all, so I've had to struggle a lot before I got to do what I wanted to do. I think you're saying that you want to post personal pics into messages, but you're having a difficult time getting the pics attached. Is that right?

If so, do you have personal photo albums on your webpage here? I had to download my pic's into my webpage to begin with. From there, I think that I can click onto one of them to attach it. I'll have to give it a quick try to be sure that I'm giving you the correct info!

Even though the image is in my webpage & open to my friends on this site, if I want to send the image to someone...I have to copy the image url. Otherwise, you can attach whichever images attached to your webpage to whatever social groups you may be a part of on this site. Those are the only ways I know of.

I hope that this helps you!

Your attachment worked, Sugarpuff.

To link to a picture in your album, first go to the album and click on the picture. Scroll down and look for a box marked "BB Code". Copy the text (code) that's in that box; it'll start with [IMG] and end with [/IMG]. Paste the code into your post where you want the picture.

Alternatively, you could copy the text (URL) from the "Picture URL" box instead. Place your cursor in your post where you want the picture. Click on the Really struggling with how to put photos in messages button above the box where you're composing your post. A dialog box should open, asking for the URL. Paste the text that you copied into the box (Replacing the "http://" that's already there) and click on [OK].
