My mother says fudge and believe me it gets the point across!! She would not have said it while my father was alive, for one thing, and I can hear her friends' influence in it. It's harsh enough.

Although..... saying those who swear have a limited vocabulary is simply wrong. I had 100 % on the vocab part of WAIS.
Thanks for this!

Perhaps you can find words that are more "colorful" and "insightful" then the words that tend to "disengage" the mind. Otherwise you just end up looking like someone who can only use potty talk that only serves to bring a conversation away from anything really meaningful to consider. Swear words are just words, yes, but they are words that tend to bring the mind down and into anger where there is little room left to encourage "productive" thinking which is much better for "healing thoughts to take place".

You speak about maturity and yet can't handle words hearing certain words. Grow a pair.
FERFA, I said in a previous post that I used to swear like a sailor. I still can, but chose not to most of the time. I confess I smashed my hand out in the barn a few minutes ago and the air turned blue.

The rules at PC say no swearing. So I don't swear here. It's not that I can't handle hearing certain words. I work with at risk adolescents, including gangbangers who use swear words as a matter of course. I doubt you know any words I haven't heard, or been called at some point. I chose not to use those words at PC because I don't want to face the consequences of swearing here. Personal choice, personal responsibility.

By the way, I'm not likely to ever "grow a pair" as I am female!

Working with Children for twenty years I could not swear under any circumstance, so words like sugar, flip and bugs were favourites on the odd occasion when i felt the need to swear!
Thanks for this!

Yellowted, I've been known to say "dirty word" when I felt the need to swear but couldn't.

I believe DocJohn gave you an explanation. Besides, if you really only "rarely swear," as you say you do, then I'm wondering why this is such an issue for you. And I don't believe you are treated any different--the same thing would happen to anyone. I think what is really going on is that you are mad because you didn't get your way. And just because you feel like throwing a hissy fit, doesn't mean that "the whole world has to agree with your premise."

Why should the whole PC chat be changed just so you can cuss when you feel like it? What makes you the exception? Why should you be treated any different?

which is worse?

Change the chat rules?
i dont see the connection between being banned from a chat room and getting burned at the stake.....
