I need to restrict a few sites - they open up in the background so I never see them open (those hovering banners ...) - anyway I have added the site address/s to my Restricted Sites under the Internet options but they open time and again anyway, slowing everything down or preventing me from seeing things within a site completely.

Any advice?

Hi Sabrina,

You said you added the sites to the zone, have you set the security level for the Restricted Sites zone up to the maximum level?

I had a site/program installed that created a list of banned sites for my computer, I'll try to locate it if I can.

Also another thing about some "hovering banners", some of them just won't go away. Period.

*hug* And I'll look into that program for you!

Cool - thanks Christina.

I didn't hike the level of security though - I was afraid it would determine my entire internet activity. Do I have to actually open the site to do this? I just copied the address and pasted it into the restricted sites spot.

I appreciate your help, really I do - I am such a geek when it comes to the finer tunings of on-line life ....... but I do try!

Please keep in mind that banners have their own address...... you need to place those in your not allowed spot as well.... I do this to open up a site without the banners showing, for some banners/ads are to sexy for my teens, even when the actual site is fine.

What Windows are you running................. ?

WINDOWS 98:
How about going to Internet Options and placing the address under the PRIVACY tab - (click on the edit button, bottom right) - add site address and then click block.

WINDOWS XP:
How about going to Internet Options and placing the address under the PRIVACY tab - (click on the site button) - add site address and then click block.

LoVe,
Rhapsody - (good luck)

I have MacAfee firewall, virus and pop up protection so nothing comes through to my computer without my visiting that site first and my permission. Ared box comes up on my lower right hand side that tells me a site is trying to gain access and then some options - permit no access, permit one time access or all access.

On the very rare occasions when something has opened it shows in my "system tray". At the bottom of my computer screne is my windows xp system tray. every open winow shows up in this area. I keep an eye on that and if something other than what I am working on is open I can see it right away and click on it and close it.
