Is there some way of moving the text in my signature further down the page? At the moment it's so close to the text of my posts that it looks like it's part of what I'm writing.

Apart from a hack such as using a transparent image in your signature sized to the gap you want to leave then probably not.

HTML standard dictates that multiple white space characters such as spaces and line breaks are compressed to a single character by default.

Personally I don't think the starting point of your signature is unclear though
