Just wondering if it would be possible to have a computer tech forum. I'm not that savvy with computers but I know there are some really good 'geeks' here that would really like to help. Also, maybe the forum could also be used for general questions and discussion about the internet and all the technology that is now out there!

I think it would be a great sub forum under Social Chat.

Might be hard to get much advice with so many different companies, plans, "types" and setups, etc., and the large England contingent (and who knows what the EU and Aussies use? :-)

I remember when it was just IBM PC's and Apple's and Microsoft was part of IBM stuff but then the software wars started and you 82,000 types of word processing applications, spreadsheets, databases, etc. and then Microsoft stepped on that and the IBM clones started to get weeded out but then they invent laptops and now tablets and wireless and the phones, the phones want to drive me back to therapy Who thought we'd have computers that make phone calls instead of phones that just did video conferencing or something? I still have a dedicated/wire land line but I think most people have VOIP (whatever that is :-) now?

VOIP is just Voice Over Internet Protocol, it just utilises a standard internet connection.

A tech question corner could be useful, but how often do individuals have a tech question? Is there sufficient volume to require a dedicated section, or couldn't the questions just be posted under General Social Chat?
Thanks for this!

Well, I thought it was worth asking. Things tend to get buried in the social chat forum and I thought a dedicated forum may get used more.

Having a dedicated section theoretically would mean less duplicate questions as it'd be easier to locate a previous similar thread. This however assumes people spend at least five minutes checking before posting

there is a thread hidden in Community and Tech Support, but it's hard to find, and you have to know it's there. posting tutorials in it is like throwing them in a black hole. maybe it could be given a more prominent place, like "chat announcements" has ~!

thanks peg, for popping the question~

I think it is a good idea for a sub forum under the Community Feedback and Technical Support Forum
