OK - My son has asked for permission to download a program called Xfire - this program will allow him to IM friends from within games while he is playing online, and it helps you to keep track of when and where your friends are playing PC games, and join them with one click.
NOW my question is - Has any one on here heard any thing bad about this program (or) have you personally used the program and/or had problems with it? Thanks.... LoVe, Rhapsody - Program Link: http://www.xfire.com/ |

Just wanted to share a heads up on this product....
While the X-fire is mainly used for gamers online it can also be used to chat among any two computer that have this program downloaded onto it.... I have let my son download the program onto our computer for his games and now all I have to do to talk with a friend or family member is to have them down load X-fire onto their own computer..... headset needed to make the X-fire work, to hear the person on the other end - no matter if you are in a game or not. > > > > > > > > > > > > > KEWL - Huh? Gotta LoVe it... LoVe, Rhapsody - |

Be careful Rhapsody; it's so people can find other people and join them; that means the other people your son plays with can "see" you (and potentially connect/hack into you). As the main page advertises, "See what the friends of your friends are playing." It's not a program in its own right, it's the development of a piece of programming that's open source. Anyone can twiddle with it, make whatever they want out of it.

I am aware of all the pros and cons.... that is why I had my computer friend set me with AWESOME PROTECTION when I got the new computer a year ago, twice over, for in all reality we are all at rick any time we use the Internet.... plus I have a filter that blocks all in coming access, even while we sleep. Thanks.... for the advice. LoVe, Rhapsody - ![]() |
