I like it, I like it a lot!

A couple of things to add - I did find that when I 'whispered' to someone the main chat screen disappeared, so I had to keep looking at one or the other. I had to click on 'chatrooms' to bring it back but it wouldn't let me view both at the same time.

I also created a room yesterday 'Pegs' room, and I noticed it is still there today!

I'm looking forward to seeing how it will be on a mobile phone.

Thanks.

can you even create a private locked(password) room in the new one? I am here a lot, and I see hardly anyone using the new one.

Yes, you can make it public or locked.

there is a double arrow pointing downwards you can try. it is on the far right of the bar.

I know what you mean, ariesmars ... I hate when I accidentally brush over it with my cursor and all that other crap pops up ... It really distorts my equilibrium and messes with my focus and concentration, so I would also appreciate a way to completely disallow it if I'm not going to be participating in chat ... Which is a very likely probability if we go to that particular system.

Looks interesting.

You can increase the font size through your browser (in Firefox, press Ctrl and + together to zoom in; press Ctrl and - together to zoom out.)

The source code is customizable, so as long as people don't hate the new chat entirely, it's possible changes can be made (for instance, regarding logging, font size, etc.).

If you want the toolbar to disappear entirely (not even the bubble), you can get a browser add-on that blocks JavaScript, although if you're not technologically-inclined, that might cause more problems than it solves. Maybe there could be an option in the User Control Panel to disable chat?

The link to a standalone chat would be http://forums.psychcentral.com/chats...ooms/index.php

One thing to take note of is that if you use tabs in your browser, the toolbar doesn't keep track of what you've opened in one tab. If, say, I open one of the chatrooms in one tab, the other tab doesn't even know I've done that. I could see it being a problem if you close the main tab by mistake.

Also, is it only possible to PM friends to chat? Or can you PM anyone in the chatroom?
Thanks for this!

Since we're gonna stick with the other "new" chat for now, could y'all kindly remove this crappy tool bar from the bottom of my screen?

I know this may sound funny, but it is a distraction and gets in the way of what I want to focus on, and yes, that includes the funky little blue balloon because if my cursor touches it the other crap pops up and it really messes with the order of my C-PTSD mind.

Thank you,
Pfrog!

I think several people here are sensitive for several reasons. I blame ADD when I say I can't stand too much stuff on the same page. Also low contrast is totally wasted on me. I love clear stuff like whats made for kids.

Also maybe delete the room I created. I'm not mean but obsessively oppositional, I have this itch to fill up the software with non-deletable rooms, LOL.

Chat is a new thing to me. Only problem I have consistently noticed is that it often shows someone as being offline, when they are actually online. Would like to know how to fix this. One of my PC friends is on frequently (shown by the green icon. When offline, the icon is pink). I can't chat until the computer catches up, but usually it does not.

Why now at the top af the forums page there is written 'attention: live chat happening now'? If I go on it nothing happens. And if I go on 'chatrooms' on the toolbar a window opens with a conversation, but I can't see the top of it and I'm not able to reduce it's size...anyone else have this problem? Sorry if somebody else said the same thing and I didn't see it

I love it; it's sleek, fast, and subtle. I like that the messages stay put, making it ideal if someone gets disconnected, I believe. It looks good, keeping out of the way (I didn't see it for a while, at first) and preventing the need for switching between browser tabs, as you only need to click the tab at the bottom, to hide it, which, yes, is similar, but I find it somehow less obtrusive.

It works fine for me. It's useful in case friends want to chat or talk directly, and I think people will find it is a useful tool if someone needs immediate support and company.

Give it a chance. It has many options available, and is scaleable, and pretty easy to use.

Thanks for asking, Dr. J.!

I'm going to ask again, is there any way to stop it from rendering the 'invisible' function pointless? I see it is still advising when I (and the people on my friends list) are online, and I specifically checked the invisibility box when I joined so as not to alert people to when I'm on the forum.

Could someone please let me know if there's a way to turn this off?

Thanks

I love the toolbar at the bottom. The fact that you can chat with one person from it - great!

When will this go to mobile DocJohn?

i hope this finds everyone in good health,
I like the tool bar at the bottom of the screen but am unable to seem the things at the right side of the screen like members, like your friends online is cut off and I only see half to a quarter of the box also the announcement you put out was barely there so i went to announcements to recover it. All other issues like yesterdays glitch or freezing up the entire chat were cleared up but I already have had to reload 3x this morning and then decided to stop by here as I couldn't find the technical support link.
thank you for your time,
Sami / tamster

Sorry, can I ask... is it possible to get that toolbar on a mobile (cell) phone? At the moment I have to go on the computer to chat to one friend from the toolbar but I cannot do this from my phone.
